Silicone Butt Implants, Brazilian Butt Lifts And Fat Transfer Grafts Grow In Popularity As Breast Augmentation Surgery Dips
There used to be a time when breast implants were all the rage, but a new report suggests that focus on the breasts is changing in order to make the gluteus maximus look better. As reported by NBC, plastic surgeons have counted the number and types of procedures performed in 2014 to discover that butt implant surgeries have gone through the roof, egged on by a social media focused society that deems flat rear ends unattractive. Surprisingly, the same results discovered that the once popular breast implant surgery has declined.
It was the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ president, Dr. Scott Glasberg, who blamed the media for the surge in interest for butt implants — and Glasberg’s group that surveyed nearly 1,000 plastic surgeons to learn that silicone butt implants almost rose by 200 percent from 2013 to 2014. The Brazillian butt lift, an operation not as severe as butt implants, but one that transfers fat from another part of the body to the butt, also climbed 15 percent during that same time period.
Fat transfer isn’t merely something that can increase the butt area. A new procedure allows patients to transfer fat without any incisions, reports WABC-TV, detailing how Houston surgeon Dexter Blome helped one woman named Julie Vargas move fat from her belly area into her breast area. Not only did that help her increase her breasts by a full cup size, but at the same time, she was able to experience a flatter tummy and the joy of not needing any foreign silicone objects in her body in order to augment her chest. Amazingly, Vargas was able to talk on her cell phone during the procedure, which she claimed didn’t hurt — but felt like a massage.
More than 900 surgeons were also surveyed by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, which found that Brazilian butt lifts and butt augmentations with silicone implants increased even more in their findings than the above aforementioned organization’s findings. Butt implants tend to have a higher rate of complications for the surgery — as high as 30 percent according to one 2013 study — therefore fat transfers offer a more attractive solution, especially since candidates generally have an area of a fatty part of their bodies, like their abdomen areas, that they don’t mind having look slimmer.
As reported by the Inquisitr, celebrities like Khloe Kardashian — who showed off her slim waist in a waist trainer via her Instagram account, as well as her sister Kim — who is known for her large posterior — have influenced woman wanting their bodies to look similar.
