Jennifer Lawrence Makes Rare Social Media Appearance
Jennifer Lawrence made a rare social media appearance to clear up a rumor regarding a purported feud between herself and director David O. Russell on the set of the movie Joy.
TMZ had reported the incident yesterday, stating that the director had been screaming profanities at the young actress. The movie studio declared it a non-incident stating that Lawrence was preparing for a scene which required her to yell at someone and it was simply David O. Russell’s way of motivating her.
Jennifer’s rare post Friday on Facebook came to David O. Russell’s defense.
“David O. Russell is one of my closest friends and we have an amazing collaborative working relationship. I adore this man and he does not deserve this tabloid malarkey. This movie is going great and I’m having a blast making it!”
The actress undoubtedly wants to maintain her professional relationship with the director, who is known to have his temper tantrums while filming. Previous Jennifer Lawrence and David O. Russell collaborations with the films Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle have earned the actress multiple Oscar and Golden Globe nominations and wins.
The dynamic duo’s new film, Joy, stars Jennifer Lawrence as real-life struggling single mom and entrepreneur Joy Mangano, the inventor of the Miracle Mop. It is set to debut in theaters December, 2015, and also reunites Lawrence with her Silver Linings Playbook co-stars Robert DeNiro and Bradley Cooper.
Fans have been understanding of Lawrence’s apprehension to use the internet because most appreciate her down to earth honesty and sense of humor. The Hunger Games star is notorious for wanting her privacy, having stated she almost turned down the opportunity to play Katniss Everdeen because she was afraid of being thrust in the limelight.
“The truth was, in the bottom of my heart, I wanted to do it. I wanted to play this character. I was scared of the aftermath, but you can’t say no to things because you’re scared. You just have to go for it.”
Lawrence has often stated in interviews that she refuses to use social media because of her lack of electronic prowess, joking that she has trouble simply texting or answering emails.
And no one can really blame the beloved actress for being tech shy. Jennifer had recently been burned by the internet this last fall as one of the victims of the nude hacker scandal and her high profile relationships with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and X-Men co-star Nicholas Hoult have been fodder for tabloids and the paparazzi.
Despite her lack of communication through the social media realm, Jennifer Lawrence’s Facebook page has over twelve million likes and today’s post received almost 45,000 likes, showing perhaps it’s not the quantity of interactions between the famous and their fans, but the quality.
