Jane Lynch Talks ‘Glee’ Spoilers, And ‘Fitting’ Series Finale Ending
As the time winds down on Glee, we’re getting spoilers about what’s in store for the series finale, which airs on March 20. Jane Lynch is just one of many cast members who have leaked some information about what Gleeks can expect from what’s said to be an emotional finale.
Earlier, the Inquisitr reported a bit on what Lynch had to say about the finale to VH1’s Big Morning Buzz, and now TV Line has just released even more tidbits about the finale.
When asked about whether or not Sam and Rachel will wind up together, Lynch was all business, insisting that they weren’t a couple. “There really is no Sam-Rachel relationship. I think they’re just friends. That’s all there is.”
Fans of the series might say otherwise if going by their steamy kisses during this season. Even though Lynch’s Sue Sylvester did hypnotize Sam to fall in love with Rachel, perhaps that fabricated feeling will turn into something more? Or maybe Rachel will find comfort in the arms of an old flame?
We’re not sure, but we can say that Jonathan Groff, actress Lea Michele’s BFF and Rachel’s ex boyfriend, Jesse St. James, is making a return. It’s not known what part in the finale Groff will have, but he did tell Access Hollywood that it was an emotional day.
“That show is not just a TV show. That show was a cultural phenomenon. It changed the face of music education, I think. It changed the way the people see the arts and it talked about gay issues and bullying issues and it talked about love and music. To be closing the curtain on that show is a milestone, and it’s really emotional.”
While it isn’t likely that we’ll find out if Rachel will wind up with anyone before the last episode airs, Jane Lynch did go on to say that the ending of the series finale is “quite fitting.”
This is important because creator Ryan Murphy originally planned for the series to end with Finn and Rachel back at McKinley High. While eulogizing the loss of Finn (the late Cory Monteith) in the choir room, Rachel explained that she had always imagined she would return to Lima, Ohio, and they would start their lives together. This seemed to be what Murphy had originally hoped for.
That said, Murphy’s comments about the new ending matched Lynch’s. At the time, he told reporters at the Paley Center event honoring FX the following.
“I’m going to tell the studio and the network [in a week] how after Cory’s unfortunate passing we can end the show that I think is very satisfactory. And kind of in his honor, which I love.”
