Teenage Girl Dies After Rapist Forces Her To Take Abortion Pills

A teenager in India has died after her rapist allegedly forced her to consume abortion pills.

According to reports from the Times of India, a teenager from the Fatehpur district in northern India has died after her rapist, identified only as Monu, forced her to take abortion pills after discovering that she was pregnant. Monu, a resident of the Kotwoli area, is currently in hiding, according to local police.

A police official, speaking for the Bindki Kotwali police station, said that Monu had sexually exploited the teenager on multiple occasions before her death. When Monu discovered Friday that his victim had become pregnant, he reportedly forced her to undergo an abortion.

Shortly after she consumed the abortion pills provided to her by Monu, the teenager became incapacitated and collapsed. Monu then abandoned the girl in an open field and fled the scene.

A few hours later, the teenager was discovered by local residents and was rushed to the local Lala Lajpat Rai hospital. She died Sunday night during medical treatment, according to police reports.

The teenager’s father has already filed a complaint against the accused.

In his statement, the father wrote, “Monu had raped my daughter several times and forced her to consume abortion pill. He must be severely punished for causing death of my daughter.”

Police officers say that Monu’s case has already been registered under section 313 (forcible abortion) and 314 (causing death with abortion) of the Indian law.

India’s rape epidemic has become one of the most notorious in the world, with multiple cases receiving international attention last year alone. Around 25,000 women get raped in India every year. However, only one out of every 10 cases gets reported to the police, compared to the United States, where almost 50 percent of all rape cases are reported to local authorities.

Misinformation and lack of education about rape also contributes to the disturbing number of sexual assault cases in the country. Just last month, the Inquisitr reported about the unfortunate case of an 8-year-old girl who was raped and murdered by an assailant in Bengaluru, India. The crime was caught on a security camera, and the local police were able to apprehend the perpetrator. However, local residents are still blaming a demon — rakshasa — for the demise of the girl.
