WWE News: Huge WWE Diva Tag Team Match Set To Occur At ‘WrestleMania 31’
When WWE Executive Stephanie McMahon cheered on Patricia Arquette for her Oscar speech on women’s rights, WWE Diva AJ Lee was more than happy to bring up current WWE issues that are a big concern among not only the fans, but the talent themselves. This comes on the heels of WWE giving around three minutes to a WWE Diva segment on WWE RAW this past week.
It got so heated that fans put out a tweet with the hashtag #GiveDivasAChance, which trended in the top 10 on Twitter until Wednesday afternoon. Fans want to see more Diva action because we have seen that they can produce if given the chance. AJ Lee, while she is quite popular, was seemingly out of bounds with her comments. She did not clear it with WWE to respond in such a way, and Stephanie McMahon herself did not know how to acknowledge it.
Vince McMahon told Stephanie to respond thanking AJ for her comments. Vince sees the bigger picture in it all and knows the money that can be made out of this. Like any good promoter, he is willing to take something that is popular and turn it into a profit.
According to Daily Wrestling News, WWE now feels under immense pressure to give in to the demands when it concerns the WWE Divas. This is why they are planning a big tag team match with the ladies for WrestleMania. However, wouldn’t be a throwaway match and involve seemingly every diva. WWE wants to put in their best divas to show off the Diva Division on the card.
WWE wants AJ Lee to come back for this match, but it is uncertain when or if she ever will be back. WWE Doctor Chris Amman recently filed a $1 million defamation lawsuit against CM Punk and Colt Cabana over Punk’s comments on Cabana’s Art of Wrestling podcast. Punk spoke of how he had a staph infection and was just handed Z-Paks to deal with the issue he had for months. WWE has backed Amman’s claims, which only intensifies their relationship.
Punk has proven he had staph in the past and has the scar to prove where it was removed from his back. So Punk couldn’t be lying about having it, as medically he’d have forms to prove he had a procedure to help him. AJ obviously does not like that WWE is yet again at odds with her husband, as it puts her in a terrible position. While AJ was out to rest due to injury, she was set to come back and participate in WrestleMania. However, now that is up in the air.
It is said that the situation is very delicate. Vince McMahon has always liked AJ, but the entire situation with CM Punk certainly complicates things.
Obviously, WWE sees money in AJ Lee or they would never have had her put in the positions they have. The idea would be to have Paige and a tag partner work a match against the Bella Twins. AJ is the one WWE would like to have as Paige’s partner. However, this may not happen. So the next best choice is said to be WWE NXT Diva Charlotte who the company has sort of already started to build up on the main roster for a debut. Charlotte is ready for the main roster and has been for months. WWE’s best option would be AJ, but Charlotte is an excellent number two choice.
At the end of the day, while an AJ Lee/Stephanie McMahon match would be ideal, that was never the direction WWE was heading, as AJ went off on Stephanie on her own. The tag team match is said to be the only option for the WWE Divas right now. So regardless of AJ being present or not, this will be the match WWE goes with for WrestleMania at this present time. However, like always in WWE, things can change depending on the circumstances.
