Taye Diggs Has Made ‘Let It Go’ His Life Mantra

Taye Diggs has decided to make “Let It Go” his mantra. The popular song was sung by his ex-wife Idina Menzel in the movie Frozen. Despite it being her song, he knows that there are some very powerful words in it.

Diggs and Menzel split in 2013, after 10 years of marriage. They have one son together, and he is the reason for “Let It Go” becoming the actor’s mantra. He explained to People that his son has to come first and there is no time for negativity. The two also started out as friends, and it seems they want to continue that friendship. They met on the set of Rent in Broadway in 1999 and started a relationship shortly afterwards. Their son, Walker, was born in 2009.

“He’s our main objective, he’s what’s most important for us, so we’re still there as a family.”

Last year was a difficult year for him, and he says there were a number of reasons for that. His divorce was finalized in December, likely playing a large part of that difficult year. It was just coincidence that “Let It Go” was the big track of the year. It was impossible to go anywhere without hearing the iconic song.

It does seem a little ironic that it was his ex-wife’s song, but it shows the power of the message. He explained that this is his mantra because it encourages people not to hold onto the past.

“Last year was a tough year for many reasons and I think all of us could use that lesson to release and keep moving on and not hold on to stuff.”

Digg also admitted that the track is on a lot, because Walker is so proud of his mom. That makes it difficult to get it out of his head and keep it out of his life. It makes sense to use it for something good.

People will have some problems letting the Frozen characters go, though. Disney has just released the trailer for its mini-sequel, Frozen Fever. The original song writers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez have returned to pen the new song, but chances are slim that it will become as big a hit as Elsa’s solo song became.

Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee have teamed up again with the directing, and Buck told USA Today that the new movie shows a different side to Elsa; one that the writers could not introduce in the original movie. Lee also confirmed that Elsa will get a cold, but not in the conventional way. The movie will premiere on March 13, before Cinderella in movie theaters around the country. Fans will get to hear the new song penned by the super “Let It Go” writers.
