Will Kelly Osbourne Quit ‘Fashion Police’ After Giuliana Rancic’s ‘Racist’ Zendaya Dreadlock Disaster? [Video]

Kelly Osbourne was raised in a family accustomed to snarking from the media and fans (as well as non-fans). And as a co-host of Fashion Police with Giuliana Rancic and legendary comedienne-critiquer Joan Rivers, Osbourne learned to laugh rather than be ashamed of unkind comments. But now, as Rancic finds herself under attack for criticizing Zendaya’s hairstyle, Osbourne may quit the show, reported the Daily Mail.

It took only one comment for Giuliana to get slammed, and Kelly to feel as if she was in hot water by association. The oops, she did it again moment came when Rancic was discussing 18-year-old Zendaya Coleman’s choice of dreadlocks for the Oscars.

Giuliana commented that Zendaya looked as if she smelled of weed and patchouli, which promptly got her slammed by the 18-year-old singer as well as social media.

Alarmed by the uproar, Osbourne in turn termed, her co-host’s remarks as racist.

However, because the comments occurred when the cameras were focused on the 18-year-old singer rather than Rancic, some contended that Kelly was the one who said the young woman smelled like weed.

Osbourne became even more angry, and tweeted a variety of responses.

“I DID NOT MAKE THE WEED COMENT (sic). ‘I DO NOT CONDONE RACISM SO AS A RSULT OF THIS IM SEREIOULSY QUESTIONONIG STAYING ON THE SHOW!”

“I WILL NOT BE DRAGED INTO THIS! The situation is being rectified like ADULTS by both parties. I hope you can leave it to them & do the same!”

In addition, Kelly championed Zendaya as her pal, and set a deadline to respond.

“You guys do realize that @Zendaya is my friend right?” asked Osbourne. “I’m giving everyone involved 24 hours to make it right or the world will hear how I really feel.”

However, in terms of expanding on her views of Rancic, Kelly also posted that she was not allowed to speak per the terms of her contract.

As the Inquisitr reported, Zendaya herself responded at length to Rancic’s remarks.

“To say that an 18 year old young woman with locs must smell like patchouli oil and weed is not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive [and]…certain remarks cannot go unchecked.”

“Men, women and children of all races [wear dreadlocks], none of which smell of marijuana. [Rancic’s remarks were] ignorant slurs and pure disrespect.”

In response to the uproar, Rancic apologized on air, reported CBS News.

Giuliana said that now is aware of the implications generated by using stereotypes and cliches. In addition, she tweeted an apology.

“Dear @Zendaya, I’m sorry I offended you and others. I was referring to a bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!”
