TLC To Honey Boo Boo: Knock It Off Or We’ll See You In Court
It seems as though TLC is threatening to sue Honey Boo Boo if the former reality child star and her family don’t quit angling for more fame.
The reason why is simple. Honey Boo Boo and her family were paid for an entire season of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo that ultimately never aired because of the scandal surrounding matriarch Mama June and her penchant for dating child molesters. In addition to a season’s worth of salaries on a season, TLC also provided tutoring and health insurance for the Honey Boo Boo clan.
And so, according to TMZ, TLC is issuing an ultimatum to Honey Boo Boo and gang: Quit looking for work in show business or else be taken to court.
Sources close to the family say that the contract between them and TLC doesn’t end until May, and until then, the family can’t work for any other entertainment company.
But Mama June, Honey Boo Boo, and the rest of the family were in Hollywood just last week, trying to sell a basic reboot of their show to other networks. The potential new show is described as having a basic “Beverly Hillbillies” theme — as the Honey Boo Boo clan settles into their new, much nicer home and learn to adjust to the influx of money, having servants, and being famous around town.
Sounds, ah, fascinating.
At the same time the family was pitching their new show and trying to convince other networks that the world has been aching for the return of Honey Boo Boo in their lives, they were also trying to launch Honey Boo Boo into pop music fame — because the only thing better in this world than Honey Boo Boo is a Honey Boo Boo who sings, right?
And singing is what Honey Boo Boo wants to do. It’s reported that she and sister Pumpkin recorded a song called “Movin’ Up.” Word is still out on whether or not the title of the song is meant to be ironic, but it is known that the song was produced by L.A. On The Track.
And yes, for all of those who are desperately wondering — there is a music video, too.
Mama June let the world know about the amazing upcoming song release on her Facebook page — in all caps, of course, which is just signature Mama June style.
“JUST WANTED TO SHARE ONE OF THE EXCITING THINGS THAT WAS RELEASED TODAY WE HAVE A SONG/MUSIC VIDEO COMING OUT WITH PUMPKIN AND ALANA AND A AWESOME GUY ADAM WE HAD A BLAST RECORDING IT AND WAS COMMENTED ALANA DONE GREAT FOR HER FIRST EVER ON A STUDIO I’M VERY PROUD OF HER AND PUMPKIN AND WE DONT HAVE RELEASE DATE YET BUT WILL LET Y’ALL KNOW IT’S A GREAT IT’S A GREAT CATCHY SONG WE WANT TO THINK OUR TRUE FANS WE APPRECIATE OUR SUPPORT AND ALWAYS LOVING US THERE IS MORE EXCITING THINGS TO COME. [sic]”
So, if TLC is threatening with a lawsuit, it seems as though Mama June ain’t scared — otherwise, she might not have used all-caps. And it is reported that the Honey Boo Boo clan has lawyered up, as well. Hopefully it all gets worked out soon, because the world shouldn’t have to wait until the end of May to see Honey Boo Boo’s debut as a pop star, right?
Mama June and Honey Boo Boo recently had to take a dose of reality, though, after an episode of The Doctors focused on Honey Boo Boo’s weight and Mama June’s lack of concern over her daughter’s diet. For more on that, click here.
