Aquaman And Wonder Woman Themes To Debut In ‘Batman V Superman,’ Film Composer Hans Zimmer Reveals
Seeing Batman and Superman together on screen for the first is bound to be one of the biggest film experiences of the year. Even more, though, Batman V Superman is the movie that’s poised to launch the entire DC Cinematic Universe, an event fans have been looking forward to since Marvel’s greatest came together in 2012’s The Avengers. Ever since Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa were cast as Wonder Woman and Aquaman, respectively, it’s pretty much been a given that they’d be making an appearance of sorts in Batman V Superman. It’s just been up in the air as to how big a role they’d play in the film. In a red carpet interview MTV explicitly asked film composer Hans Zimmer if he has to create the character themes for Aquaman and Wonder Woman that will carry on to their respective films (hat tip to Screen Rant).
“I’m trying… I’ll put it that way. We are in early days, but yes. You know, of course, ideally that’s what you want to do.”
The famed composer didn’t dodge the question at all, and it’s a wonder if he’s speaking out of turn, but it is great to hear. While rumors have been flying back and forth about the Aquaman showing up, this is the first real confirmation from someone close to the process.
It is a bit surprising that they hope to establish an actual theme for both characters, and that does lend some minor credence to the idea that their role will be more of an extended cameo than a Hawkeye-esque appearance (from the original Thor movie). Then there’s the simple fact Wonder Woman and Aquaman would need to be introduced separately so that their respective themes could also be introduced separately.
As many questions this opens up, ultimately, this bit of news gives us very little insight into the duo, such as Aquaman and Wonder Woman’s role in the film and in the universe. The Inquisitr recently speculated Aquaman’s involvement in the Justice League as a whole, with the whole “Unite The Seven” tagline in the Aquaman photo tweeted by Zack Snyder, and while it seems possible Aquaman can be something of a peacemaker for the group, is that the role he is poised to take upon his introduction?
What are your thoughts on this? Does Zimmer’s comment have you looking forward to Wonder Woman and Aquaman’s introduction to the big screen?
