Ellie Goulding Enjoys The Warm Weather With Boyfriend Dougie Poynter

Pop superstar Ellie Goulding was heating up the beaches of Australia with her boyfriend Dougie Poynter. Poynter’s band, McBusted, is currently opening for One Direction on their world tour. In a previous article by the Inquisitr, it was reported that Goulding was once linked to One Direction’s Niall Horan, but they still remain pals, and there are no hard feelings between Horan or Gouliding’s current boyfriend, either.

While enjoying her time down under, Goulding and Poynter celebrated his four years completely drug and alcohol free. In McFly’s autobiography Unsaid Things…Our Story, it was revealed that Dougie had attempted suicide in February, 2011, to overcome his battle with alcohol. Shortly after that, he entered a rehabilitation facility. According to The Daily Mail U.K.,Goulding’s boyfriend spent several months fighting his demons after splitting from former girlfriend, Frankie Sanford of The Saturday’s.

Following his recovery, Poynter went on to win Season 11 of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.

In 2012, Goulding’s boyfriend was interviewed by Alan Carr on his Chatty Man show, and when he was asked about his sobriety and suicide attempt, he replied as follows.

“It’s always good to reflect on that sort of stuff. I’m in a really, really good place now. It is quite easy to forget.

It’s quite therapeutic to go back, quite scary and a bit of an eye opener into how dark it can get if you take your foot off the gas and stop looking after yourself.”

During her time down under, Ellie managed to get her hair done with One Direction’s hairstylist, Lou Teasdale. She went with a more honey shade of blonde then has previously been seen on the singer, but the color compliments the golden tan she received while she was enjoying her time soaking up the Australian sun.

While Ellie has been enjoying some time off, her hit single “Love Me Like You Do” has been breaking all sorts of records. The hit single is from the box office smash hit Fifty Shades Of Grey. ABS/CBN News reports that Goulding’s song topped the British music charts for the third week straight, and broke an all time audio streaming record. The song was streamed over 2.6 million times, which breaks the record previously held Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk,” featuring Bruno Mars.

Ellie has been enjoying her time away from airports and concert venues by retreating to her hotel room with Dougie for some movies and room service. A picture of Goulding taken by her rocker boyfriend shows her sitting in front of the television with a club sandwich and some chips.

Poynter’s band McBusted finished up their time in Australia on February 20, in Perth.
