Tobey Maguire And Wife Do A Flip: Couple Is Selling Home For $10.25 Million

Tobey Maguire is making headlines this week for a huge real estate move. The actor, best known for his role in Spider-man, put a home he purchased just last year back on the market, and he is asking for $10.25 million for the home, according to AZ Central.

Maguire and his wife, Jennifer Meyer Maguire, bought the home from Ricki Lake for $8.45 million in January 2014. The asking price set by Maguire and his wife means that they will make a $1.8 million profit if the couple receives the amount they are asking for in the sale.

Another well-known Hollywood star once owned the Brentwood mansion as well. Courteney Cox sold the mansion to Ricki Lake in 2002 for $5.6 million.

Since Maguire and his wife bought the home last year, they have given it a “cosmetic refresh” to update it. However, they have not lived in the home at all.

Maguire and his wife also own another piece of land that is directly across the street from the Brentwood estate. The couple bought that 0.91-acre site for $10 million back in 2008.

Curbed shared a number of photos of the home and its interior earlier this month. Several details about the Brentwood home were also shared by the site.

“Designed by noted SoCal architect John Byers, the 6,320-square-foot house spreads five bedrooms over the sprawling first floor and includes a separate upstairs guest suite. The gated home sits on a three-quarter acre lot and features a series of interconnected living and dining spaces that lead out to a covered outdoor living room and pool. A soaring family room by the kitchen has a vaulted ceiling with large skylights and exposed wooden beams. The master suite comes with two fireplaces and a roomy, skylit bathroom.”

It was also revealed by Yahoo! Homes that the guest suite has a separate entrance. The home was built in 1949, but it is clear that the property has aged well. It has only gone up in price with each sale.

Flipping properties is becoming more common in the real estate market. Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, are known to flip properties, like the Maguires did with this Brentwood mansion, often. It can be profitable when the sale is successful.

What is next up for Tobey Maguire? The actor will be seen next on the big screen in Pawn Sacrifice. The film showed last year, and it found a U.S. distributor at the Toronto International Film Festival. Pawn Sacrifice is set for release on September 18.
