Duggar Special: Watch Jill And Derick Announce Pregnancy To Dillard Family, Reactions Are Priceless

Fans have been aware of Jill’s pregnancy for some time now. However, in the season premiere today, fans got to see Jill’s big announcement as she told her family that she was expecting her first child. It wasn’t just the Duggar clan that found out about the exciting news: Jill and Derick also called Derick’s brother, Dan, and mother to share the good news. The reactions are priceless and, thanks to TLC’s special online shorts, you can watch the Dillards break the news to surprised family members in the video above.

In the TLC special above, you can watch as Jill and Derick Dillard prepare to call Derick’s family to tell them that Jill is pregnant. Jill beams to the camera about how “surreal” the whole concept of being pregnant has been for her. She says it is “crazy” and she can’t believe she is the one sharing the big announcement with the family.

“It’s so very surreal thinking I am pregnant. This is crazy. And now it’s me sharing an announcement that we’re expecting. Usually it’s my mom or maybe Anna.”

The couple calls Derick’s brother, Dan, on the phone and informs him that he is an uncle. Dan’s reaction is hilarious and Derick says it was one of his favorite responses to the pregnancy. Dan just doesn’t seem to believe that Jill is really pregnant. Derick says, “You’re an uncle!” over the phone, but Dan doesn’t seem to quite understand. His first reaction is to say, “Excuse me?” Derick repeats himself and Dan simply says, “No, I’m not.” Derick then explains that Jill is going to have a baby, but Dan then questions if the couple is just making baby plans or if she is actually pregnant. Jill finally chimes in and says “like we’re pregnant, I’m pregnant, right now.” Finally, after spouting off due dates, Dan seems to finally understand that he will be an uncle very soon.

The video also shows Jill and Derick making the announcement via Skype with Derick’s mother, Cathy. Derick says that his mother thought the couple was just calling to catch up on the week, she had no idea that they had a big announcement to make. Derick says the pregnancy “caught her completely off guard.” The pair tell Cathy the big news by calling her grandma. Cathy looks shocked as she says, “What?!? Already?”

Jill notes that with the medical problems that Cathy was facing, the news of the pregnancy was all the more exciting.
