Niall Horan fans are worried that One Direction’s only eligible bachelor has finally found a girlfriend. Unfortunately for all the future Mrs. Horans out there, a Directioner recently provided photographic evidence that Niall is hooking up with an Aussie hottie. However, is the picture really what it first appears to be?
According to Hollywood Life, Niall Horan was spotted kissing and cuddling a 21-year-old Sydney student named Melissa Whitelaw. One Direction is currently on tour in the Land Down Under, and Niall was seen making out with Melissa at the Crown Casino in Melbourne. A Twitter user named Gemma snapped the photos below over Valentine’s Day weekend.
A girl’s head is in the way in the photo on the right, but Gemma claims that Whitelaw and Horan were kissing behind her.
Gemma’s friend Madison described what went down between Niall Horan and Melissa Whitelaw.
“Niall was kissing her for a few seconds then would stop, then would play with her hair,” Madison wrote. “She would look away and Niall would pull her face back over and kiss her again.”
Unsurprisingly, Directioners had a lot to say about the supposed kiss photos.

Luckily, there’s a ray of hope for upset Niall fans. According to the Irish Independent, another eyewitness told a totally different story. An unnamed source informed the Sun that Niall and “Melly” are old friends who have “known each other for ages.”
“They didn’t kiss on Sunday. He was just leaning in to talk to her because of the noise in the bar.”
According to the Independent, it’s possible that Melissa Whitelaw (or “Melissa Anne”) already has a boyfriend.
Directioners will probably be relieved to learn that there’s still a good chance that Niall Horan is a single man, but who could blame the singer if he really did decide to get involved with someone? His One Direction band mates are all in pretty serious relationships, so he can’t go out and party like a single man with Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne.
Right now, Niall might need someone in his life to help him take his mind off of a constant reminder of a past relationship. As the Inquisitr previously reported, McBusted is currently touring with One Direction. One of the members of the group, Dougie Poynter, is dating Horan’s ex, Ellie Goulding. Poynter claims that the situation isn’t awkward or tense, but Niall might feel otherwise.
