‘Sword Art Online’ Season 2 English Dub Release Date Set For Toonami By Aniplex [Video]
American viewers have long been wondering when the Sword Art Online Season 2 English dub is coming out from Aniplex of America. Well, look no more, since the Sword Art Online Season 2 release date has just been officially announced and it’s a lot sooner than fans might have expected.
In a related report by the Inquisitr, if you are looking for plot spoilers about Sword Art Online Season 3, check out the link in this sentence. Let us just say it involves a new world that goes by the name Underworld and involves a process called “alicization.”
Crunchyroll has announced that the Sword Art Online Season 2 English dub release date is set for March 28, 2015 at 1 a.m. EDT. Toonami will broadcast the dubbed version of Gun Gale Online, Excalibur, and Mother’s Rosario. They also confirmed the English-speaking cast for the Sword Art Online Season 2 dub.
“The dub cast from the first season will reprise their roles in Bryce Papenbrook as Kirito, Cherami Leigh as Asuna, Cassandra Lee Morris as Leafa, Sarah Anne Williams as Lisbeth, Christine Marie Cabanos as Silica, Kirk Thornton as Klein and Stephanie Sheh as Yui. Aniplex of America has also confirmed that Michelle Ruff will be joining the cast as Sinon.”
The series should continue for years to come, but not only due to its continuing popularity. Writer Reki Kawahara has released 15 SAO light novels. SAO Season 1 covered volumes one through four and one of the side stories of volume eight, while Sword Art Online Season 2 covers volumes five through seven with the focus being on the characters Sinon and Death Gun.
Sword Art Online Season 2 also includes two major side plot lines that fill in some gaps in the story. The Excalibur story arc is pulled from volume eight. Mother’s Rosario comes right before Sword Art Online Alicization, the major plot point of the Sword Art Online Underworld story arc.
If you have not watched Sword Art Online Season 1 in a long while, I’d suggest refreshing yourself with Sword Art Online: Extra Edition special right now. It’s mostly a recap of the Aincrad portion with bits of Kirito talking to a government official about what happened, but it should be enough to get you back up to speed in time for the Sword Art Online Season 2 English dub release date.
