Bruce Lee Enters ‘Temple Run 2’ For Limited Time
Bruce Lee enters Temple Run 2 as the newest playable character for the mobile game from Imagini Studios. The paid DLC that adds the Dragon as a character in the temple for about $1 USD is now available on the Apple, Android, and Amazon versions of the game. The Windows Phone version has yet to receive the update. According to the iTunes listing of what is new in version 1.13, players are urged to “hurry” because Bruce Lee will only be available for download for a “limited time.”
Imangi Studios co-founder Keith Shepherd commented on the latest Temple Run collaboration in a statement to the press.
“As one of the most talented martial artists of all time, we think that Bruce Lee is a perfect fit for the Temple Run franchise. In addition to his speed and agility, we also celebrate his philosophies with words of wisdom when players need it most.”
These “words of wisdom” are motivational quotes delivered by Bruce Lee in his lifetime. These inspirational phrases appear on the summary screen after completing a run and include classic quotes like, “Defeat is a state of mind,” “Be water, my friend,” “Willing is not enough; we must do,” and “Showing off is the fool’s idea of glory.”
In addition to being well-regarded for his philosophical prowess, Bruce Lee is famous for the lightning fast martial arts moves he brought to the big screen in films like The Way of The Dragon. In 2015, Bruce Lee would have been 75 if not for his tragic death in 1973. The Temple Run 2 collaboration is just one way the Bruce Lee estate is celebrating his legacy. In a statement to the press, Shannon Lee, daughter of Bruce Lee and CEO of Bruce Lee, LLC, explained her excitement about her father’s appearance in the game.
“I’m very excited to have my father become part of the Temple Run family … Not only is this a great and fun way to celebrate my father’s birthday, but I’m grateful that my father’s legacy will continue to live on for fans of all ages via our partnership with Imangi.”
Bruce Lee joins other well-known celebrities added to Temple Run 2, including Olympian and fastest man alive Usain Bolt. In partnership with the NFL, several players were added to the game throughout the 2014 NFL season. The roster featured Russell Wilson, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Colin Kaepernick, Cam Wilson, and Calvin Johnson.
