Niall Horan: Why Are Australian Fans Hating On The One Direction Star?
It seems that One Direction star Niall Horan has become a hate figure amongst some of the boy band’s Australian fans.
Niall Horan and his pals, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Liam Payne kicked off their 80-date “On The Road Again” world tour last Saturday, February 7, in Sydney, Australia. According to reports, Niall arrived in Australia before his bandmates and spent some time relaxing with friends and taking in the Australian Open tennis championship.
With the tour just three shows old, it seems that some of One Direction’s fans have turned on Niall Horan. The Daily Mail reports that Niall was abused by fans at Sydney Airport as the boys boarded a private jet for the flight to Brisbane, where they played a show at the city’s Suncorp stadium.
On a video posted on YouTube, Niall and his bandmates can be seen arriving at the airport in separate cars with blacked-out windows. A female voice can clearly be heard shouting “Hi Niall, F*** you.” As Niall gets out of the car and walks towards the aircraft, a group of female fans shout a tirade of foul-mouthed abuse at him.
Niall looks over towards the group of fans shouting sentiments including “I f***ing hate you!” Other girls are heard shouting to the star from behind the camera “Go f*** yourself’ and ‘F*** off we’re full.”
It seems that some One Direction fans are unhappy that Niall Horan and his pals did not stop to have photo’s taken with fans whilst they were in Sydney. One onlooker told the Daily Mail Australia that some fans were unhappy as a result of that.
The onlooker said, “A whole group of them had been waiting for 8 days outside the hotel, following them everywhere and the boys had refused photos and avoided them, so they were upset they didn’t take a second to stop before leaving apparently.”
According to Unreality TV, it was clear that Niall heard the comments but, ever the professional, he simply waved and boarded the aircraft.
It is not clear why Niall Horan was singled out for abuse, though he has complained in the past about how difficult life can be on the road. Niall has said that having hundreds of fans hanging around outside your hotel screaming your name can get tiring. He has said that it can feel like you are imprisoned. Even before the tour started, Niall’s pal Liam Payne was complaining about being bored as he was trapped inside his hotel.
In recent months, speculation has been growing that Niall and the other members of One Direction are getting involved in more and more side projects. It is well known that the band’s contract with Simon Cowell’s SyCo expires at the end of 2015, and according to reports, tickets for this tour are available at half price through Lasttix.com.au. It may just be that fans have outgrown Niall Horan and One Direction. Could this prove to be a farewell tour?
