WWE News: Backstage Update On The Undertaker, Is WrestleMania 31 Match In Jeopardy?
Since 1993, nobody has done more at WrestleMania than the Undertaker. His presence puts the entire production together, and he is the definition of WWE. Just like Sting was for World Championship Wrestling, the Undertaker always remained loyal to WWE. If the Undertaker jumped ship, who knows how the course of history would’ve changed.
Fortunately, WWE fans for over 20 years have witness a streak last 21 victories, but at the same time saw it end last year at WrestleMania 30 to Brock Lesnar. Some say it was time for the streak to end, but others still hold a grudge against WWE decision-makers. Although, it’s a new year and another WrestleMania showcase for the Undertaker. That’s still wishful thinking.
It’s been rumored for a few months now that the Undertaker will take on Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 31. WWE is now teasing it through Wyatt’s promos as of late. There’s still one variable that has yet to be known among the WWE Universe. What is the health of the Undertaker? According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Undertaker is not in good shape. In fact, he’s being described as looking like a “60-year old man.”
“According to The Wrestling Observer, The Undertaker was recently seen and was described as ‘looking like he’s 60 years old.’ The observer added it was shocking how Undertaker looked, and was moving as if his knees are ‘gone.’
As of now, the plan is for The Undertaker to face Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 31, but that match has yet to be announced by WWE.
The WWE has two options at the moment, and either one will work. Sting vs. the Undertaker is currently penciled in for WrestleMania 32 in Dallas, Texas. It’s also rumored that the match will be both men’s last bout in professional wrestling. If they let the Undertaker rest up this year and try to come back in 2016 at full-strength, the match against Sting would provide a better story and wrestling bout.
Another option for WWE officials is to have Undertaker wrestle Bray Wyatt this year, then risk him not being healthy for every WWE’s fan dream matchup next year with Sting. If Taker is truly in bad shape, there is no point to force him into a match he’s not ready for. At his age, it’s truly dangerous.
Sting, on the other hand, is very healthy and can definitely go this year and next year. He’s already slated to face Triple H at WrestleMania 31. For the sake of WWE fans everywhere, hopefully the Undertaker will be healthy enough to compete at WrestleMania 31. The Phenom will not wrestle if he cannot compete at a high level. That’s for certain.
