Fans Slam Trey Songz Anti-Grammy Rant
Now that he’s announced new tour dates for the “Between the Sheets” tour with Chris Brown, Trey Songz can focus on other things, like throwing shade on the Grammys.
Trey Songz took to Twitter to rant about what Singersroom calls a “Grammy meltdown.” Trey “shared his distaste with fans” over the awards ceremony and how the “Grammys shortchange culture for popularity.”
So please, don’t take this next sentiment as salt, shade, envy, etc. The Grammys shortchange culture for popularity every year.

As BET noticed, Kanye is usually known as the artist who carries “the torch of calling out the show for marginalizing Black artists,” but now Trey has joined in. Did I mention that Trey was not nominated for any Grammys this year, and some are speculating that is a cause for what Trey doesn’t want to be known as a rant.
I don’t rant, this isn’t that. TRIGGA #1 album “NaNa” “Touchin Lovin” and “What’s Best For You” all #1 on one chart or another. #Grammys ijs

Trey’s recent latest endeavor, Trigga, “debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart selling 105k in its first week of release.” Despite the lack of nomination, Trey went on to point out that he doesn’t need it because he can take care of his family without.
10 years I been able to feed my family and have the support of so many people, just for doing what I would do anyway for NOTHING. Music

Trey went on to add that what was more important, even though he spent a good chunk of the night twitter-ranting about it, isn’t the nominations or the awards, but his fans.
My fans give me the real reward no trophy ever could, LOVE. So everytime they give me nothing, I think of you. Thank you, I love you.

So how did fans respond to Trey and his thoughts on the Grammys propensity towards “shortchanging culture” in favor of popularity?
Well, fans and the general twitter audience had mixed reactions, with one user telling Songz to “shut up,” and another pointing out that all award shows are “based on popularity.”
@TreySongz SHUT UP

I wonder if Trey Songz would have sung a different tune if he had actually been nominated for any Grammy Awards at last Sunday’s show.
