WWE News: Spoiler For Tonight’s WWE NXT Championship Match Between Kevin Owens And Sami Zayn
WWE NXT: Rival will broadcast tonight live on the WWE Network. Most believe if the show it anything like the last WWE NXT special, we’re in for one heck of a show. Rival is certainly stacked. Not only is there an NXT World Title match between two great workers in Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, but other matches on the card include an NXT Women’s Championship Fatal Four Way, and a No. 1 Contenders match between Finn Balor and Adrian Neville. This on top of other great matches.
The show from top to bottom looks like it could be just as good as WWE NXT: R-Evolution from back in November of last year.
There is a bit of a spoiler for tonight, however. According to Cageside Seats, Kevin Owens will most likely go over Sami Zayn tonight to capture the NXT Championship. It is said that WWE is very sold on Kevin Owens. His fans have followed him from the Independent scene, which has shown in his merchandise sales. They are on par with main roster stars and yet he is on NXT. WWE knows his popularity is only going to grow.
The idea is to have the Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn rivalry continue on for a while. WWE knows that the two had amazing programs on the Independent scene, so they want to cash in on that now that they are in the company. WWE would like to make this a longer thing, so having Zayn go over Owens sort of hurts the idea that there could be more from the two right off.
Another note to help with this is that Sami has been on WWE’s recent tour of Abu Dhabi. It was said that he would fly back in time for the show. He’d then wrestle and then go back overseas for the remainder of the tour. This means he will be missing the next set of NXT tapings, most likely. It wouldn’t make much sense to have him retain the championship then not be on the shows the next few weeks.
WWE loves using Zayn overseas due to the multiple languages he speaks, one including Arabic. He is also of Arabic descent, so it makes total sense to have him on this tour in Abu Dhabi.
At the end of the day, WWE can continue the next few weeks without Zayn on the NXT card, but there does need to be a new NXT Champion for a while to help build their story. Who better to hold that title than a man who has come into NXT hot and has fans loving him in Kevin Owens? WWE is sold, and so are the fans. The match will surely be great. We’ll have to see if WWE does pull this trigger, though, as they could always change their mind.
