‘General Hospital’ Casting Spoilers: Rebecca Budig Joins Cast
General Hospital spoilers indicate that a familiar face will be popping up soon in Port Charles, and fans are very curious about this one. Rebecca Budig, known to many for her time as Greenlee on All My Children, is joining GH and starts taping soon. What’s the scoop?
As Soap Opera Digest shares, Rebecca Budig is heading to General Hospital in what is being teased as a “spitfire” and “killer” role. Head writer Ron Carlivati and executive producer Frank Valentini had some fun with fans via Twitter as they tortured followers with the lead-up to the big casting announcement. They had teased fans that there was big news on the way and got everybody guessing. It took a few rounds and a lot of joking, but they finally revealed that Budig was joining the cast.
Budig quickly joined the Twitter buzz with some humorous demands, such as the fact that Billy Miller has to do her hair. The soap vet indicated that she can’t wait to join the cast and work with all the talented folks there. Fans went crazy over the announcement, and Rebecca quickly thanked all of the fans who gave her such a rapid and warm welcome.
Just who will Budig play on the sudser? That much hasn’t been revealed yet. Some wonder if she could step in to an existing role as a recast, while others suspect based on the teasers of spitfire and killer if she might be someone entirely new. There have been a lot of comings and goings lately, with the actresses playing Britt and Kiki leaving, but others like Spinelli returning and, of course, Michelle Stafford, Billy Miller, and Grayson McCough joining the show to tackle key roles.
Budig left the role of Greenlee some time ago, and many fans know that she has appeared on Castle, How I Met Your Mother, Blue Bloods, and CSI since then. Rebecca is now married to Michael Benson, and they welcomed daughter Charlotte Jo last fall. Many also remember that, for several years, Budig was married to former Bachelor star Bob Guiney and, prior to that, she was married to a man named Daniel Geller.
Obviously to bring on a heavy hitter like Budig, Carlivati and Valentini must have big plans for the character. How do you see the soap vet fitting into the mix of things in Port Charles? While some think the show already has too many key players on the soap already, others are thrilled with the news and are dying to see how she’s incorporated into the show. According to TVLine, Rebecca Budig will first appear in her new role on General Hospital in March, and additional details should be emerging soon.
