Demi Lovato Thanks God For Her Sobriety
Demi Lovato took to Twitter to thank her best friend for helping her stay sober for almost three years. And no, it wasn’t Wilmer Valderrama.
Lovato, who has been in rehab for alcoholism and an eating disorder, proclaimed how she’s come a long way since those early days and how proud of herself she is.
“Sometimes I look at how far I’ve come in my personal journey and I’m like.. Holy s***.. I f***ing conquered that like a boss!!” Lovato tweeted.
Demi then went on to thank God for helping see her through.
3 years sober next month… Hell yeah!!! God is so good. My best friend created the universe and still takes time to love me. #soblessed

The former Disney star has been dealing with issues of substance abuse for many years. Lovato recently admitted to the Daily Mirror that she knows she can no longer indulge in alcohol in a “responsible” way, which lead to her seeking help.
“Some people can smoke and drink recreationally,” Lovato explained. “I’m not one of those people. If I do that, it will spiral out of control very quickly. I’ve lost the privilege of being able to drink responsibly.”
In addition to overcoming her addiction to alcohol, Demi also has battled issues with body image. As reported by Inquistr, Lovato credits current boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama with helping her through her darkest hours when she almost relapsed. In an interview with Fitness Magazine, Lovato details the experience.
“I almost went back to rehab for my eating disorder last summer. I was obsessing over food and terrified of it at the same time. Wilmer noticed and called me out on it, which was a relief.”
She also credits strong female role models in her industry for helping to inspire her new life.
“My current life motto: ‘If Beyoncé can do it, I can do it. If she can work out, have the incredible body she has, have a kid, and be as successful as she is, then I sure as hell can, too.”
Demi is also inspired by full-figured celebrities who aren’t afraid to embrace their curves.
“Say what you will about the Kardashians, but they’ve really helped make curvy bodies beautiful again,” Lovato said. “It’s so nice to look around and see women with hips and a butt, like Iggy Azalea and Jennifer Lopez. They have great figures, but you know they also work really hard for them and don’t try to hide their curviness.”
