Ryan Reynolds Daughter Is Just Average? Blake Lively’s Husband Jokes About Newborn
When Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively announced they were expecting a child together, everyone assumed that with their genetics, they would have an extremely blessed child. That said, no worries — because Reynolds is here to tell everyone that his baby daughter is “totally average.”
Reynolds went on Live With Kelly and Michael to talk about his new film, Mississippi Grind, and conversation of course turned to his life as a new father.
“I’m happily not getting any sleep. These days, I think of blinking as taking tiny little naps all day.”
Reynolds went on to describe his baby, and instead of gushing about her, he was pretty candid, and kept it light.
“Everyone thinks their baby is a genius. People find it delightfully refreshing when I tell them, ‘My baby? Totally average. Like, 100 percent average.'”
He continued, “I have a friend who said his 2 1/2-year-old was reciting Chekhov. Now that baby’s a genius and probably, let’s be honest, a bit of an a**hole.”

When news hit the web that the couple’s daughter had arrived, it didn’t come without some drama. Apparently, someone from the hospital’s medical staff tweeted out that their daughter’s name was Violet, which goes against HIPAA laws. Although Ryan didn’t comment on the tweet, he did drop a baby name hint, and get this, it isn’t Violet. Reynolds told reporters, “No that’s not the name. I don’t want to get into that but I don’t know where that came from.”

He also told reporters that sleep is definitely not happening for he or Blake.
“I don’t sleep very much. It’s great. It’s wonderful. But my brain is elsewhere.”

On David Letterman, Reynolds dropped a few baby name hints.
“We definitely [have a name]. I threw out the idea of just never naming the kid to be totally original, but we have a name. I just don’t want to say it in, like, a media context. I tell everyone who I meet, so it’ll come out.”
Letterman quizzed the new father on what type of name his daughter has, and when Dave asked if their daughter had a biblical name, Ryan replied, “maybe kind of, yeah.”
