Ryan Reynolds Confirms He And Blake Lively Welcomed A Daughter, Hints At Baby’s Name [Video]

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively welcomed a baby girl in December, so you can probably imagine the questions that Ryan is being asked as he does press for his new film, The Voices, which hits wide release and is available on-demand Friday, February 6. During his visit with David Letterman, Ryan was asked about the baby’s name — which was rumored to be Violet, but that’s not the case — and his responses to Dave’s guesses were pretty hilarious, according to Us Weekly.

“We definitely [have a name]. I threw out the idea of just never naming the kid to be totally original, but we have a name. I just don’t want to say it in, like, a media context. I tell everyone who I meet, so it’ll come out,” Reynolds explained.

Ryan Reynolds confirmed that his little girl isn’t named Olivia, Emma, Sophia, Isabella, Madison, or Abigail. However, when Dave asked him if the name was biblical, Ryan responded, “maybe, kind of, yeah.” After a few more guesses (Mary, Ruth, Sarah — all nos), Dave asked if Ryan and Blake planned on telling their daughter her own name at some point.

“I’m thinking of letting her know. I think it’s important. I’ll slap a little ‘Hello. My name is’ on her, and send her to school,” Ryan joked.

Ryan and Blake are extremely private people, so keeping their baby’s name a “secret” isn’t that surprising. The couple hasn’t shared any details about their daughter, and no pictures have been released either, but that will likely all come in time. For now, the new parents are just enjoying their time with their new bundle of joy.

“It’s amazing. I’m not one for vomiting declarations of sentiment out across the airwaves, but when we had that baby, I fell more in love with my wife than I’d ever been in my entire life. I couldn’t even believe it,” Ryan said.

According to InStyle, Reynolds also threw some shade Brad Pitt’s way, saying that he and his wife would never “steal” another celebrity’s baby name… and that they named their baby girl “Shiloh.” Of course, this was all in good fun. And the world still doesn’t know what Ryan and Blake named their daughter, so no harm no foul, right?
