Carlos Teran Miranda: Doctor Arrested For Hidden Camera In Bathroom Flower Arrangement

Carlos Teran Miranda, a children’s doctor in Merced, California, is in deep trouble after a hidden camera was found in a bathroom designated for patients. The Tribune is reporting that Carlos Teran Miranda was arrested and charged with child pornography. Police say the camera was found by a woman who decided to investigate after noticing a strangely placed flower arrangement in the children’s patient bathroom on Friday.

When she dug deeper, she found the hidden camera embedded inside. The woman immediately took a picture of the camera and forwarded the disturbing information over to the administrative buildings. Law enforcement authorities were called, and a search warrant was secured for his home and his office at the Golden Valley Health Center.

Shocked neighbors looked on in horror as police confiscated items from Miranda’s home. One of the items spotted was a laptop computer, which should provide a wealth of evidence against the pediatric physician. In a press conference, police stated that the investigation is ongoing and expected to take some time. Neighbors also told the media that Teran-Miranda was married with small children.

Police want to examine every piece of evidence to put together a solid case. They are also trying to determine how long Dr. Carlos Teran Miranda has been placing hidden cameras in his office.

After keeping watch of the disgraced pediatrician’s home and office, he was finally arrested outside of his office just before entering the clinic. According to his physician bio provided by WebMD, Dr. Carlos Teran Miranda graduated from Univ Mayor De San Simon, Fac De Cien De La Salud in Bolivia back in 2003.

Teran-Miranda is affiliated with Mercy Medical Center and Doctors Medical Center Modesto. He is fluent in several foreign languages, including Chinese, English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog, and Korean, and specializes in Pediatric Infectious Disease. Miranda seemed like the kind of doctor that put his patients first, and he took pride in the fact that he was able to see patients of many cultures despite language differences.

But, Dr. Carlos Teran Miranda’s latest arrest raises great concern, since he has traveled extensively and has worked in different places over the last decade — making many wonder how many victims has he left behind. Thus far, it seems the doctor had an overall good record before Tuesday’s arrest. A cursory look into his background shows that there has been no finding of previous medical malpractice lawsuits or board actions due to misconduct.
