Bobbi Kristina Brown Alive And Stable, Family Source Says, But ‘Mountain Of Issues’ Remains
Bobbi Kristina Brown, the troubled 21-year-old daughter of tragic pop diva Whitney Houston, remains alive and her condition is stable Sunday morning, according to a source close to Bobbi Kristina’s family, who spoke to People Magazine.
Brown was rushed to North Fulton Hospital from her home in Roswell, Georgia, Saturday morning after being discovered in a bathtub there by her husband, Nick Gordon, and a family friend. When she was discovered, Bobbi Kristina was unconscious and unresponsive.
The crisis came less than two weeks before the third anniversary of the death of Whitney Houston under hauntingly similar circumstances. The legendary singer of such chart-topping hits as “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me),” “The Greatest Love Of All,” and “I’m Your Baby Tonight” was found dead in a bathtub of a drug overdose on February 11, 2012 at age 48.
While hospital officials have not issued any official statement on the current condition of Bobbi Kristina Brown — whose father is Houston’s ex-husband, R&B singer Bobby Brown — the People Magazine report contradicts an earlier report attributed to a hospital source and leaked to the urban gossip site MediaTakeOut.
The earlier report claimed Bobbi Kristina was effectively “brain dead” and that, while she remained breathing, all hope of her recovery and ultimate survival had been abandoned.
While Fox News reported that Bobbi Kristina Brown had suffered “an apparent drug overdose,” in similar fashion to her late mother, police said that a search warrant executed at the home Brown and Gordon shared turned up no evidence of drugs on the premises that could have been responsible for Bobbi Kristina slipping into unconsciousness in the bathtub.
While the daughter of Whitney Houston has been open about her own struggles with drug use, she vowed to remain drug free about five months ago, and friends say that she has kept her pledge.
Nonetheless, even if she recovers from her current medical emergency, she still faces what the family source called “a mountain of issues,” before getting her life in a healthy state.
“It’s been a difficult time for Bobbi Kristina, who’s struggled in the years after her mother’s death,” the source told People, adding that Bobby Kristina “has been vacillating between extremes for a while now and is fighting grief and demons of her own creation.”
Bobbi Kristina Brown has not yet recovered from the loss of her mother, the source said, and also must cope with “her intense craving for attention of any sort.”
