‘Breaking Bad’ Star Anna Gunn To Join Gary Sinise In ‘Criminal Minds’ Spinoff

Actress Anna Gunn, who most notably starred in Breaking Bad as Walter White’s wife, has just been cast in a new CBS crime drama, which will be a spinoff from the successful Criminal Minds series. Gunn has been cast in the female lead, opposite Gary Sinise, in the series, which will focus on a U.S. agency that specializes in aiding American citizens abroad, according to theNew York Post.

Ms. Gunn’s character, Ally Lambert, is an expert on international law and an accomplished linguist. Gary Sinise will play her supervisor and 20-year veteran of the F.B.I., Jack Garrett, in the as of yet untitled spinoff.

The show, which will be introduced in a backdoor pilot during the regular Criminal Minds season, is set to make its debut in mid-February. If the episode earns high ratings, the show may see a pick up in time for the early fall lineup.

The Criminal Minds spinoff will follow Gunn’s and Sinise’s characters as they investigate crimes involving American citizens overseas, as a part of the BAU team. Tyler James Williams, formerly of The Walking Dead, will join Anna and Gary as a part of their team. Criminal Minds executive producer, Erica Messer, will write and executive produce the new show as well.

Originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico, Gunn studied theater at Northwestern University, before building a prolific wealth of experience on stage in Chicago. Anna landed her first role in the theater in the critically acclaimed production of “The Beggar’s Opera,” starring as Lucy Lockit. Ms. Gunn also performed in “Uncommon Ground” at the Northlight Theater and in “Peacekeeper” at American Blues Theatre, prior to relocating to Los Angeles.

Anna has been acting on television and in films since 1992, when she starred in the short-lived sitcom Down The Shore. Since that time, Ms. Gunn has starred in a number of films, including Enemy of the State and Sassy Pants, as well as appearing in guest roles on a variety of television sitcoms and dramas.

While starring on Breaking Bad, Anna Gunn won two Emmy Awards for her portrayal of Skyler White. People magazine reports that Ms. Gunn has since gone on to star on Gracepoint as Detective Ellie Miller, alongside David Tennant. Gracepoint is Fox’s adaptation of the British series, Broadchurch.

Inquisitr recently reported on Gracepoint and it’s place in the rating game, as it premiered this past October.
