Joe Biden Thinks Republicans Are ‘Trying To Steal’ Democrats’ Accomplishments

Speaking at the House Democratic Retreat in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Friday, Vice President Joe Biden urged Democrats to not let the Republicans take credit for the economic recovery.

According to Reuters, Joe Biden said the Democrats in the House of Representatives should bring up that the auto bailouts, stimulus, and health care reforms were all created during the Obama administration. Biden added that if the party doesn’t explain how these helped strengthen the economy, Republicans will try to get Americans to believe that it was the November 2014 election results that became a starting point for more hiring and growth.

“This is our story, the Democratic party’s story. It’s about how government policy can and did change America. And people are attempting to steal that story.”

Joe Biden noted that if Democrats don’t take credit for their accomplishments, it’s going to be more difficult for the party to push through future policies.

“The point here is that Democrats have to stand up. You’ve got to embrace what we did. Explain it, be proud of it, stand up for it, defend it. We can’t let the Republican party rewrite history.”

That wasn’t the only thing Joe Biden mentioned during his speech. Real Clear Politics released a video in which Biden went over how things have been for America since the Obama administration took office.

“To state the obvious, the past six years have been really, really hard for this country. And they’ve been really tough for our party… And together we made some really, really tough decisions — decisions that weren’t at all popular, hard to explain. Hard to communicate why it was so important, had to be made.”

Joe Biden added that the decisions that were made cost many of their fellow party members their positions.

“A lot of my friends and your friends in this caucus aren’t here today because they had the nerve to stand up and do what they thought was right knowing, in the face of unrelenting, political criticism, and with Republican and Tea Party trying to stop us at every step of the way, they knew they were going to be in trouble [with] making the right calls.”

In a related report from the Inquisitr, shots were fired near Joe Biden’s Delaware home. Neither Biden nor his wife were home at the time, but they were later briefed on the situation.
