A 40-second video surfaced on YouTube on Wednesday and while the video is under a minute long it’s already creating a headache for Pentagon officials, that’s because it allegedly shows a group of US Marin Corp enlistees urinating on the dead bodies of three dead Taliban fighters.
First reported by Air Force Times the men joke about the urination act as they do it with one Marine proclaiming “Have a great day, buddy.”
If the video is found to be real the desecration of the bodies might be considered war crimes according to a senior USMC official.
Speaking about the video a Marine spokeswoman said:
“While we have not yet verified the origin or authenticity of this video, the actions portrayed are not consistent with our core values and are not indicative of the character of the Marines in our Corps. This matter will be fully investigated and those responsible will be held accountable for their actions. We are in the process of verifying what unit these Marines are with right now and as soon as we have more information, we will let you know.”
