Woman Dies During Wedding Proposal Gone Terribly Wrong, Falls Off Cliff While Jumping With Excitement

A wedding proposal on top of a cliff in Ibiza went terribly wrong after a woman fell to her death just moments after saying, “Yes!” The bride-to-be jumped up and down with excitement as her boyfriend asked for her hand in marriage. However, while jumping for joy, the woman lost her footing and fell 65-feet from the top of the cliff to the ground below.

According to the Daily Mail, Dimitrina Dimitrova and her boyfriend were at a spot, known for beautiful sunsets, around lunch time when the tragedy took place. The pair, both originally from Bulgaria, were at the tiny resort of Cala Tarida on Ibiza’s west coast. The couple went to the top of the cliff, where Dimitrova’s boyfriend had a surprise. The boyfriend had planned a surprise marriage proposal. Dimitrina was so overjoyed at the thought of marriage that she began to jump up and down with excitement. As she was jumping, she lost her footing and plunged 65-feet to the ground below.

Police say that the woman was found alive, but unconscious. However, by the time paramedics arrived, Dimitrina was dead. Paramedics say that the young woman died from a heart attack that was brought on by injuries sustained to her body during the fall.

Euro Weekly News reports that Dimitrova was just 29-years-old and had arrived in Ibiza just a few days prior to the accident to look for a job. Dimitrova’s boyfriend, a waiter on the island, already lived in Ibiza and had planned to propose on the cliff top as it had a spectacular view.

“Her boyfriend lived and worked on Ibiza. She had arrived two days earlier to visit him and look for work.”

As devastating as the ordeal may be, a spokesperson for the local Civil Guard notes the death was the result of a “freak accident.”

“Everything is pointing towards the death being the result of a tragic freak accident.”

Fortunately, not all falls from cliffs are deadly. The Inquisitr previously reported on a camper who sleepwalked off of a 60-foot cliff but miraculously survived and a teen who fell off a cliff in Alaska while talking to her mother on a cell phone. Fortunately, the girl sustained only minor injuries after her parents were able to contact local Alaska State Troopers, who were able to locate the injured teen. Her mother remained on the phone in an attempt to keep her daughter calm until help could arrive.
