Amber Portwood Writes Letter From Prison, Promises to be ‘Good Role Model’ for Leah

Amber Portwood has had plenty of time to reflect on her life since heading to prison last month. Portwood wrote a letter to her brother saying that she’s not an “endangerment to society” and that when she gets out she knows that she can be a good role model for her three-year-old daughter Leah.

Portwood wrote:

“I don’t think I’ll ever take this sh-t for granted… All I think about is Leah and how she needs a role model. If I can get out, I can really show her what a good mother is.”

Portwood returned to prison last month for violating her parole. The charges originally stem from an incident a year ago when she attacked her ex-boyfriend Gary Shirley. Portwood was charged with domestic battery.

Portwood continued:

“I don’t want people thinking I’m this crazy b–ch. I am a good person and I pray that I can change my life!”

Portwood has a court hearing at the end of this month. She could face up to another two-years in prison if she is convicted.

US Magazine reports that Portwood’s daughter Leah is currently living with Shirley, who was recently granted full custody of the child.

Do you think Amber Portwood can change her ways? Can she be a good role model for Leah?
