Tiger’s Bizarre Tooth Story Doesn’t Add Up, Causes Firestorm Of Non-Believers
Tiger Woods’ tooth tale may not have happened where he says it did. Woods, 39, claims a cameraman with a video camera knocked it out, but witnesses say that story just isn’t true.
Last Tuesday, January 19, Woods showed up to surprise his girlfriend, Lindsey Vonn, at the World Cup event in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. Vonn was participating in her 63rd World Cup ski race.
Tiger wore a skeleton ski mask that he says is from a video game he plays called Ghost Recon so no one would recognize him. After he took off the mask, photographs of Woods with a missing front tooth were taken. Tiger gave reporters his version of events.
“I was looking down, and all the camera guys are below me on their knees or moving all around, trying to get a picture because she’s hugging people…Dude with a video camera on his shoulder, right in front of me, kneeling, stood up and turned and caught me square on the mouth. He chipped that one, cracked the other one.
And so then, you know, I’m trying to keep this thing so the blood is not all over the place, and luckily he hit the one I had the root canal on. That’s the one that chipped. But the other one had to be fixed, as well, because it had cracks all through it.”
Later that day, Woods clarified his comments saying, “It was an accident…And yes there was blood everywhere.”
Many people aren’t buying Tiger’s tooth story. There were allegedly no witnesses nor any photographs taken of Tiger showing “swelling, bleeding or even discomfort,” according to the NY Daily News.
Event organizers are definitely disagreeing with Woods’s version of events, including Nicola Colli, the secretary general of the race’s organizing committee. Colli told the NY Daily News he had no knowledge of the alleged incident.
“I was with him from the tent to the snowmobile that carried him away. There was no blood…. If Tiger Woods said that, I don’t really know what to say.”
Tiger’s girlfriend, Vonn, corroborated his story in a Facebook post writing, “When he was in the finish area a cameraman accidentally knocked into him and took out his front tooth.”
Whether Tiger Woods lost his tooth at the event or not, Tiger said his teeth have now been fixed.
Reporters asked Woods about his reaction to people’s disbelief in his tooth story, and he answered in a joking manner.
“Dude, you guys … it’s just the way the media is. It is what it is. It’s a new world. We need to talk about something. Have to fill up space.”
There are two sides to every story, but do you believe Tiger Woods’ tooth story?
