Cristiano Ronaldo To Get 12 Game Ban? Rumors That Sending Off Was Reaction To Irina Shayk Split Dismissed
Cristiano Ronaldo could be banned for 12 games after his recent recent red card.
The Real Madrid forward was sent off while playing for Cordoba. Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off for kicking and punching defender Edimar.
According to the Mirror, a disciplinary panel on Wednesday has the right to suspend Ronaldo for as many as 12 games. But that will only be the case if he is found guilty of excessive aggression.
However, it would be hugely surprising if this ban was handed out to Ronaldo, especially since the referee during the contest didn’t even deem his red-card to be violent conduct.
In his post-match report, Alejandro Hernandez only wrote that Ronaldo had been sent off for kicking out at Edimar. In fact, his version of events didn’t even make reference to Ronaldo’s punch.
Hernandez wrote, “In the 83d minute, Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off for the following reason: kicking an opponent when the ball was out of reach.”
It is most likely that Ronaldo will actually only face a one match ban. This will mean that the three-time Ballon d’Or winner will only miss Real Madrid’s encounter with Real Sociedad.
If the panel decide that Ronaldo should be banned for three games, then he would be missing for Real’s games with Sevilla and Athletico Madrid, too. Despite Cristiano Ronaldo’s red-card against Cordoba, Real Madrid were able to claim victory thanks to a late Gareth Bae penalty.
The Daily Mail‘s Pete Jenson also went on to declare that Cristiano Ronaldo’s red-card had nothing to do with the off-field disputes that have led to the soccer star splitting up with his model girlfriend, Irina Shayk.
Jenson commented that Ronaldo reacted in this manner because he was hugely frustrated at his inability to impact the match, which looked as if it was destined to end in a draw after his dismissal.
Rumors that Cristiano Ronaldo had cheated on Irina Shayk with Lucia Villalon have recently circulated, and there’s no denying the fact that he looked like a frustrated figure during the encounter.
After the match, Edimar insisted that Ronaldo was sent off because the match hadn’t gone his way.
“He had become a bit hot-headed because thing were not working out for him. Things were not going right for the team and he had become a bit nervous because he wasn’t able to do what he normally does. He crossed the line but it’s gone and forgotten. I hope he gets just a normal band and nothing more.”
Ronaldo also apologized to both Edimar and Real Madrid for the “thoughtless act” that led to his red card after the match.
