‘Ghostbusters’ Cast Announced: The ‘SNL’ Ladies Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, And Melissa McCarthy Are On The Job
The all-female Ghostbusters have been selected, and if you’re a fan of the longtime running variety show SNL, the cast looks very familiar.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Melissa McCarthy will be joined by current SNL cast members Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. Kristen Wiig, who left SNL for a film career, will also join the ladies for the Ghostbusters reboot.

Director Paul Feig has strong roots with Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. In 2011, Feig directed the hit film Bridesmaids, which Wiig wrote and starred in alongside an ensemble that included Melissa McCarthy. As for Wiig’s co-star, Feig went on to direct McCarthy in The Heat.
So far Melissa McCarthy is the only one that’s officially signed on for the Ghosbusters reboot, and the studio is currently negotiating contracts for Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon, which means they might as well be locks at this point, especially given that they all share a similar background.
It’s said that the Ghostbusters film is expected to shoot in the summer so it probably won’t be far off before we can officially confirm that this is the locked cast for the movie.
Last we heard from director Paul Feig, he was fighting off the criticism that he received once it was announced that Ghostbusters would feature an all-female cast. “When people accuse it of being a gimmick I go, why is a movie starring women considered a gimmick and a movie starring men is just a normal movie?”
At the time, the news of the all-female cast was announced via a very enthusiastic tweet by Feig.
It’s official. I’m making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That’s who I’m gonna call.

So far, fans are reacting positively to the news of the fresh faces that will no doubt put a twist on the four characters.

@RegalMovies Those women are hilarious. I’ll see it! The first 4 were just comedians, so this should be good too!
