iPhone 6 Plus Review: Is It Better Than The iPhone 6 Or iPad Mini 3?
Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus is bigger and better than ever. It’s been so popular, that sales of the phone have been booming in China. But is the iPhone 6 Plus a better choice than the iPhone 6 or the iPad Mini 3? If you have been interested in purchasing Apple’s new iPhone, this will review will help you out.
The iPhone 6 Plus is known for its larger display panel. It’s actually one of the first “phablets” and large phones that the manufacturer has ever produced. The iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5 in Full HD panel, which makes it smaller than the Nexus 6. The Nexus 6 has a 6-inch display, although it’s around the same size as the iPhone 6 Plus.
The mobile market is now demanding larger phones, and Apple has listened. Apple released two handsets: the iPhone 6, for the traditional user; and the iPhone 6 Plus, for those who want something bigger. The iPhone 6 Plus has an impressive battery performance, according to Know Your Mobile.
Both of Apple’s handsets have been selling in large numbers around the world. An AppleInsider recently reported the numbers.
“In a research note from well-connected KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Apple’s latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models led a charge to 73 million overall unit sales for the quarter ending December. The analyst estimates the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 to hit more than 42 million, while the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 ‘phablet’ contributed with just over 16 million unit sales.”
The iPhone 6 Plus is obviously taller and slimmer than the iPhone 6. There’s also a significant weight difference with the 6 Plus. Some users would say that the phone is too thin. But if you happen to like handsets that are thinner than usual, then the iPhone 6 Plus will satisfy you.
Speaking of size, the iPhone 6 Plus does feel like the iPad Mini. According to GizMag, the iPad Mini 3 is 27 percent taller and 73 percent wider than the iPhone 6 Plus. The Plus measures 5 percent thinner, though neither of the devices comes close to the razor-thin iPad Air 2. The iPhone 6 Plus is also 48 percent lighter than the Mini 3.
Both the 6 Plus and Mini 3 use IPS display panels, have Apple’s Touch ID fingerprint sensor, similar storage options, and the same RAM. The 6 Plus has an advantage when it comes to having a newer generation of chip. The A7 chip in the iPad Mini 3 made good for most users, but the iPhone’s A8 will be better optimized for running bloated apps and for gaming.
Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus with a contract costs $100 less than the iPad Mini 3. Of course, the iPhone 6 is obviously cheaper than both devices. If you buy the iPhone at retail, it will cost you a hefty $750. The deciding factor is size and performance. If you want something that acts like a phone, but is similar to a tablet, then the iPhone 6 Plus is up your alley.
