Jennifer Aniston On Oscar Snub: ‘We’re All Really Excited’ — Here’s Why
Actress Jennifer Aniston apparently is not taking her Oscar snub very hard at all. On the contrary, the 45-year-old actress has a completely different perspective when she looks at the big picture of her critically-acclaimed performance in Cake.
While on the red carpet at the Critic’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday, Aniston had a chance to open up about how she reacted to the Oscar snub with Access Hollywood.
“I’d be lying if there wasn’t a little [aw], but after that there’s a lot of, ‘But look at tonight, look at the Globes, look at the SAGs!'”
Aniston continued by speaking about her joy over the whole experience — including the praise that Cake, a movie that Jennifer admits is special to her, has been receiving. In her own words, Aniston explains how the award season is more of a bonus.
“We’re an embarrassment of wonderful riches [for] a movie that hasn’t even been released and is teensy tiny. This is all just cherries on top of something that was really special to us. So we’re really excited.”
Cake was Jennifer Aniston’s first low-budget, indie-style film in eight years. After being a part of the 2006 film Friends with Money, Jennifer’s movie career seemed to focus more on high-budget films and even the successful Horrible Bosses franchise. The former Friends actress was even able to branch off into executive producing in the years since she starred in Friends with Money.

Jennifer Aniston in The Good Girl, Marley And Me, Friends With Money and Derailed proved to me she can do a solid dramatic performance. — Paul Haydon (@PaulHaydon) January 14, 2015
Cake offered Jennifer the chance to take on another dramatically challenging role like she did in the 2002 film Good Girl alongside Jake Gyllenhaal — another actor who received a surprising Oscar snub this year.
NIGHTCRAWLER is not only easily one of the best films of 2014, Jake Gyllenhaal’s performance is one of the best. Baffling snub. #OscarNoms

Along with taking on a dramatic role, Jennifer Aniston also had to physically transform in order to portray Claire Bennett — including staying away from makeup and straying away from her usual fitness routine.
Therefore, it is apparently clear that Jennifer is not allowing her recent Oscar snub to rob her of the joy and excitement that making Cake brought her.
Aniston is also pleased by the support that she has been receiving from her close friends, including two A-list actresses who did get nominated for Oscars this year — Reese Witherspoon and Julianne Moore.
“[Reese] sent me such a sweet email, as did Julianne [Moore]. They are all amazing women, but you know, we’re all rooting for each other and it doesn’t take away the work that was done. So it’s really, really nice.”
Cake had a limited release last year, but many more people will get a chance to see Jennifer Aniston’s dramatic performance since the film is scheduled for a wide release later this month.
