Shannen Doherty Fires Back At Jason Priestley: His Car Accident ‘Altered’ His Memory
Beverly Hills, 90210 had outrageous teenage drama on-screen, but even more drama off-screen. The celebrities who starred in Aaron Spelling’s 10-year series still continue to feed headlines with gossip long after the show last aired back in 2000. Are we still in high school?
Most recently is the talk surrounding Jason Priestley’s new memoir, “Jason Jason: A Memoir.” Shannen Doherty has become rather vocal regarding Priestley’s memories of her as he spills all in his new book, according to MSN. Doherty actually made some rather harsh comments during an interview on Sirius XM’s “Just Jenny,” which aired tonight.
In Priestley’s “tell all” memoir, he remembers Doherty, who played his sister in the hit TV show, in a rather unflattering light. Priestley is bold in his recollection of Doherty’s behavior as quite the diva, as reported by Daily Mail.
“I could not believe my ears at Shannen’s very first words,” Priestly wrote about a time he and Shannen rode in a town car.
“She said loudly, ‘You send a town car to take me to the airport, not a limo?’ I couldn’t really tell if Shannen was kidding or not. But that was just the beginning. She began b****ing about the short notice and the food on board and the temperature in the cabin and everything else. She really and truly did not give a s***. It was a very cool attitude, until it wasn’t.”
Daily Mail reveals Doherty’s comments she fired back on the radio show regarding Priestley’s accusations.
‘Supposedly I wanted a limo, and I’ve always hated limos my entire life. I find them embarrassing and grotesque. I mean, there are things that would in no way happen. Like I didn’t even go on that jet at that point in time. It’s like, ‘Wait, wait, wait! You totally confused me with somebody else maybe from the show?!'”
Doherty blames Priestley’s serious 2002 car accident, in which he was seriously injured for his “altered” memories of the true facts, as she reveals to MSN.
“I love Jason, but you know he had a car accident, a racing accident, and I think maybe parts of his memory got altered from that. Everybody changes… They have their own perception of the truth. His is definitely different than mine.”
In August 2002, Priestley fractured his thoracic spine, broke both feet and his nose, and incurred a severe concussion in his near-fatal race car accident at the Indy Racing Infiniti Pro Series at the Kentucky Speedway. Daily Mail reports that he crashed while reaching a speed near 180mph.
Although Doherty has maintained close friendships with three of her other cast members from Beverly Hills, 90210, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green, and Jennie Garth, there is obviously not any love lost between the on-screen brother and sister.
In fact, Doherty’s last blow on air in retaliation to Priestley was simply, “I just know that at some point everybody just needs to sell a book, right?”
