Jessa Duggar And Ben Seewald Support Mike Huckabee’s Possible Presidential Run, Meet With Former Governor [Photo]
Jessa Duggar and a few of her siblings are following in their parents’ footsteps by getting involved in politics. According to the Duggar Family Blog, Jessa Duggar and husband Ben Seewald recently showed their support for potential presidential candidate Mike Huckabee.
Michelle Duggar and Jim Bob Duggar are no strangers to politics. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Michelle lent her voice to a robocall that discouraged Fayetteville, Arkansas, residents from supporting a civil rights ordinance aimed at protecting LGBT citizens from discrimination. The 19 Kids and Counting star equated transgender people with child predators in the robocall.
The Duggars’ oldest son, Josh, is also involved in politics — he uses his famous name to influence elections by working for the Family Research Council, an organization that has been designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Josh has taken part in anti-gay marriage rallies, and he and his family members are supporters of anti-gay marriage politicians like Huckabee and Rick Santorum.
Now it looks like Jessa Duggar is also starting to get involved in politics. In the photo above, she and Ben Seewald can be seen smiling and posing with former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee. She’s joined by her parents and a few of her siblings, including sisters Jinger and Joy Anna.
According to a post on the Duggar Family Facebook page, Jessa and her family members spent some time with Mike Huckabee at the inaugural ball for Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson.
“We had a great day yesterday attending the swearing in and the inaugural ball dinner for our good friend and new Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson. We also spent a little time with our friend, Governor Mike Huckabee who also joined the activities of the day.”
According to the Duggar Family Blog, the Duggars were “thrilled” to learn that Huckabee might run for president in 2016. The family campaigned for him when he ran in 2008, but he failed to win the GOP nomination.
The former Fox News Channel host thinks that he might have a better chance this time around now that there are more Duggars. During an interview with People, Mike Huckabee talked about how the 19 Kids and Counting stars can help him out.
“If I can get ’em registered in each of the states, I’m going to win just by virtue of their votes!”
Most young women might be turned off by Huckabee’s criticism of Beyonce in his new book, God, Guns, Grits and Gravy, but he doesn’t have to worry about Jessa Duggar taking issue with his worlds — it’s highly unlikely that the sheltered 19 Kids and Counting star has ever even heard a Beyonce song.
However, Jessa and her family members probably should take issue with Huckabee’s friendship with rocker Ted Nugent. As BuzzFeed points out, Huckabee has actually performed “Cat Scratch Fever” with Nugent. It’s hard to imagine what the Duggars would think about that performance, and Huckabee better pray that the family never finds out that his rocker pal wrote a skeevy song titled “Jailbait.”
Mike might keep company with some people that the Duggars would be extremely uncomfortable around, but they can’t cut ties with a friend who is so willing to stand up for them.
According to Radar Online, a passage in Huckabee’s book mentions Jessa Duggar and her sisters. He complains that the Duggar kids “have endured relentless and vicious ridicule from the snobby and snotty sophisticates,” and he claims that Duggar detractors are just jealous of “how well behaved the Duggar kids are compared to the little hellions and yuppie larvae created by the critics of the Duggars.”
Jessa Duggar has probably been criticized more than most of her siblings (except for Josh). She’s one of the most active members of the Duggar clan on social media, and she once caused a minor media outrage by comparing the Holocaust to abortion and blaming the genocide on a belief in evolution.
Do you think Jessa Duggar and her siblings will become more active in politics and outspoken about their beliefs as the 2016 presidential election draws closer?
