Is Lana Del Rey a ‘Problem’ For Marilyn Manson?
There’s been some weird controversies between Lana Del Rey and Marilyn Manson in the past, the most serious of which involved a Marilyn Manson video that seemed to cut to a rape scene involving Lana Del Rey.
Reportedly, it wasn’t a true Marilyn Manson video. According to Billboard, the video leaked last November of a fake (but nevertheless disturbing) Lana Del Rey rape scene intercut with footage of Marilyn Manson, the Internet exploded with horror and outrage.
The shock rocker Manson quickly distanced himself from the video. He explained it wasn’t an actual Marilyn Manson video, but rather a fan-made clip splicing existing Manson footage with an unreleased LDR rape scene.
That should have ended the controversy, but it seemed to get worse when Manson spoke to the publication NME. The publication indicated there was an issue between Lana Del Rey and Marilyn Manson, based on the comment it quoted from him.
“Eli [Roth, director] and I wanted to do a music video with her but she was being such a problem.”
Manson is denying he dissed the Ultraviolence singer, saying he was misquoted.
“I did not have any intention of that footage being involved with any of the other footage it was edited together with. Also, I was misquoted in the press about saying that working with Lana was a problem. What was a problem was trying to get into a situation where she and I could work together, because we didn’t have a story yet. Eli and I are friends, and I wanted to work with Lana, but this was not a Marilyn Manson video, although it came across that way when it was released.”
Unfortunately, there’s still a lot of unanswered questions regarding this confusing “mishap.”
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Manson stated that there seemed to be a problem with Lana herself in the filming of the video, which was apparently meant to include her.
“Although I still respect her, I’m friends with her. I just left, I was tired, I was not willing to make that part of the video. Eli and I originally had intentions of making a video with her, but that is not the intention that is represented in that film clip because that is not what I filmed, not for my video.”
So, the question remains, who directed the controversial footage, and what was it made for?
Nobody seems to want to take any responsibility for any of the footage and are being very vague.
And what about the footage Roth admits to filming featuring Lana for Marilyn? A year prior to the leaked video, Roth told Larry King in no uncertain terms he filmed footage with Manson and Del Rey.
“The footage is so sick, it’s been locked in a vault for over a year.”
