Jana Duggar’s ‘Career’ Confuses Some ’19 Kids And Counting’ Fans
Did Jana Duggar’s resume get embellished on the Duggar Family Facebook page?
According to E! News, Jana and twin brother John David recently celebrated their 25th birthdays. In honor of the siblings’ shared milestone, their proud parents listed a few of Jana and John David’s accomplishments on Facebook.
“We took our oldest set of twins Jana & John out to one of our favorite restaurants Cracker Barrel for their 25th birthday yesterday (Their birthday is really today!),” the family Facebook read. “They both have a ministry heart and are great role models for other young people. John just finished up his pilots license and is staying busy with construction and police work. Jana is a concert pianist and is involved in many ministries. We are so blessed to have such wonderful daughters and sons! Happy 25th Jana and John!”
The description of Jana Duggar as a “concert pianist” has some 19 Kids and Counting fans scratching their heads.
“A little honesty would be refreshing, Duggars!! When and where did Jana train to become a ‘concert’ pianist??” one response to the birthday post read.
“Jana is an indentured slave and doesn’t have time to put into being a ‘concert pianist,'” another commenter wrote. “My sister is a concert pianist and had a lot of hours of practice a day and college to get that title.”
Another critic acknowledged that Jana is a musician, but also questioned the title given to Jana Duggar.
“Playing the piano at come church concert does not make one a concert pianist. It takes years of training and practice Yes she probably does play, we’ve seen pics of her playing the violin. I would not list it as a ‘career’. They are making stuff up. Poor Jana a babysitter and not much more. Until she marries and has her own kids.”
According to Inside Jobs, Jana Duggar would have to spend a lot of time away from her family to be a true concert pianist. This time-consuming, competitive career usually involves obtaining an associate’s degree or higher and spending “much of the year on tour.” Jana is expected to live at home until she’s married, and none of the Duggar daughters have attended college.
Perhaps the Duggars just misused the concert pianist title to describe Jana. To be fair, she and her siblings have performed in church concerts before, and she is definitely a talented piano player. The video below features Jana Duggar and her sister Jinger showing off their skills during a home performance with a few members of the Waller family. The video was posted on YouTube last September.
In the comments below the birthday Facebook post, some fans also noted that Jana Duggar’s parents didn’t mention that she’s working as a midwife’s assistant. In 2013, Jana worked alongside Jill Duggar as part of a “birth team.” However, it looks like Jana isn’t helping to deliver babies anymore. In a TLC blog post, Jana Duggar hinted that she never shared Jill’s desire to become a certified professional midwife.
“I am really enjoying learning about natural birth, and working as a midwife assistant and doula. Even though this may not be something that I do for the rest of my life, I feel so blessed to be able to learn and grow in this area.”
Many Jana Duggar supporters will be sad to see that she spent her 25th birthday without a significant other. As the Inquisitr previously reported, some fans are concerned that Jana will never escape the Duggar house by getting married, and it’s rumored that Jim Bob and Michelle want to keep her at home to work as an unpaid nanny/maid. Plenty of 19 Kids and Counting viewers would love for Jana to break free from the family by leaving home to tour the country as a concert pianist, but it’s unlikely that you’ll see this story line when the TLC show returns on February 17.
Why do you think Jana Duggar’s parents described her as a concert pianist? Is it possible that they embellished her list of accomplishments because they feel bad that she’s still stuck at home without a husband or career?
