Christina Ricci Flaunts Slim Post-Baby Body, Talks Diet Dedication And ‘Dark’ Roles [Video]
Just five months after giving birth to a boy, Christina Ricci is attracting attention for her slim post-baby body. The actress best known for her roles in the Addams Family and Pan Am is now 34, fit, and fabulous. And in addition to showing off her sleek physique, Ricci’s eager to discuss her new dangerously dark role playing the infamous Lizzie Borden, reported Us Weekly.
Christina will appear in an eight-part Lifetime series, The Lizzie Borden Chronicles. She previously played the Massachusetts murderer who killed her stepmother and father in a TV movie Lizzie Borden Took An Ax.
Why take on such a dark role so soon after having a baby? Ricci admits that she’s attracted to the dark side.
“I think she’s a really fun character to play. I mean, she’s out of her mind and a bad person and she likes to commit murder. So, I just go to a place where things are fun and dark.”
As the Inquisitr reported, many celebrities are vocal about struggling to lose their baby weight in the public spotlight, with Kim Kardashian repeatedly expressing frustration about those stubborn post-pregnancy pounds. She finally chose the Atkins low-carb diet to find success.
So what are Christina Ricci’s post-baby diet secrets? She’s dedicated to a Paleo-style low-carb diet, according to She Knows. And dieting has been a lifetime effort for Christina, but her recent role in Pan Am caused her to accelerate her weight loss focus as well as her exercise.
“We all have to be in bikinis in the second episode,” recalled Ricci. “Some of the girls are like, ‘I’m not dieting, screw it!’ And I’m, like, totally dieting; I’m eating protein and vegetables.”
In addition to following those Paleo diet guidelines of no grains, no sugar, and no dairy, Christina worked out obsessively.
“I’m doing my Pilates exercises at night, when I’m watching television,” she explained of her multi-tasking efforts.
“My Pilates instructor wrote out three different routines for me. I’ve worked out, ‘OK, this one I can do in my dressing room, and this one in the studio at lunch.'”
However, although Christina took care to restore her pre-baby body quickly, she admits that she feels she’ll never look like the typical actress-in-a-bikini stereotype. And that’s okay with her, adds Ricci quickly.
“I think probably, in my late twenties, I became a lot more like, I’ll do what I can to make sure I look the way I like to look. But in the end, there’s only so much you can do and I’m not going to punish myself because I don’t look like the average person in a bikini.”
Although she’s willing to talk about her diet and fitness, Ricci is more private about her personal life. She’s appeared on a variety of talk shows, including Jimmy Kimmel. But thus far, no one has discovered her baby’s name.
