LeBron James Engaged, Will Wed Savannah Brinson

NBA star LeBron James of the Miami Heat proposed to longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson on Saturday night, the perfect way to ring in the New Year.

According to reports the engagement occurred at the Shelborne hotel in South Beach where the 27-year-old NBA star popped the question during a New Year’s Eve dinner which was part of his birthday celebration.

To make the occasion even more special James picked up the couple’s sons LeBron Jr., 7 and Bryce, 4, and swung them around on the floor in celebration.

The party was put together by James’ teammate Dwyane Wade and his girlfriend Gabrielle Union. The event was setup as a belated birthday present fro Lebron who turned 27 on Dec. 30.

Among the parties other 60 guests were teammate Chris Bosh and actress/singer Queen Latifah.

Brinson had told Harper’s Bazaar in 2010 that the couple weren’t rushing into marriage:

“When it happens, it happens,” she said. “If we do it, I want it to be forever.”
