Real Life Peter Griffin: Spot-On ‘Family Guy’ Impersonator Hits New York Comic Con
For anyone that was at New York Comic Con back in October of 2014, they may have been lucky enough to cross paths with a guy who is now known as the “Real Life Peter Griffin.” It may have taken some time, but his likeness, face, voice, and uncanny ability to become the animated character known as Peter Griffin have all gone viral.
According to the Huffington Post, his real name is Robert Franzese and he’s an actual impressionist. His appearance at NYCC seemed to be like anyone else out there, but there was more to him.
Franzese already has the physical appearance and resemblance of Peter Griffin, and he knows it. Now, the kicker is that he also is blessed with the ability to alter his voice to sound identical to the leading character from Family Guy.
Sometimes, he even sounds better than the show’s creator and Peter Griffin’s voice, Seth MacFarlane.
“You want me to become Peter Griffin this freaking early. Come on, it’s like freaking seven o’clock in the morning.”
As people ask him to go into character, Franzese takes out a pair of glasses, slips them on, and completes the simple transformation into Peter Griffin.
The Daily Dot states that he actually made his first appearance back in 2012 at the New York Comic Con. It was then that the Real Life Peter Griffin character appeared on the show room floor and started improvising with con-goers.
While he was very popular at that event, it still hadn’t gone widespread just yet. About a year later, the Internet began to take notice and now he’s officially gone viral.
The video of Franzese as the Real Life Peter Griffin at the 2014 New York Comic Con was just uploaded on January 6. In less than two full days, it has already had more than 3.5 million views and keeps growing by the hour.
Now, he’s turning it into a career and it already seems to be working for him.
There is a Real Life Peter Griffin page on Facebook, and it has 14,000 likes, but it is getting more love as his video is passed around. He’s even caught the attention of Seth MacFarlane himself.
There may never be a call for a real life version of Family Guy, but if Fox and Seth MacFarlane ever choose to do one, casting won’t be hard for one part. A real life Peter Griffin is roaming the streets these days and he’s trailblazing the Internet.
