‘Rent’ Fans Shed A Tear As Idina Menzel And Taye Diggs Officially Finalize Their Divorce
Back in the 90s, theater was introduced to a brand new play that was nothing like any other play before. It was titled Rent, and it touched on many current social issues at the time such as drug abuse, HIV, and the financial struggles young people deal with. Because the play had its fingers on the pulse of culture at the time, Rent appealed not just to theater enthusiasts but also a younger age demographic. Behind the scenes, Rent was the springboard for the career of one of the most popular theater performers/singers today, Idina Menzel. It is also where she met her husband, Taye Diggs.
Over the years, the relationship between Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs seemed to be one written from the pages of a fairy tale while breaking down social barriers. For most of their relationship, the biggest argument both Idina and Taye dealt with was the interracial part of their relationship. Between the separation and the divorce, fans have hoped Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs would eventually make up. Rumors surely got around that it might be possible, especially with the fact no further action was taken after said separation announcement.
Fans’ hopes would shatter when Taye Diggs filed the divorce petition in New York back in November. It did not take long for him and Idina to negotiate terms on child custody and asset divvying, bringing up the possibility that the terms were discussed during the delay.
Along with the possibility of negotiation within the delay, it seems both Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs took that time to adjust to single life again too. The Inquisitr reported on such in which Taye now has a new love in his life. Idina, on the other hand, has found dating to be hard, mostly because of her schedule and the fact she’s a mom.
In conclusion, Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs’ 10-year marriage is over. At least the break-up has been amicable as any divorce can get, according to an anonymous source. They both remain committed to raising their son together – peacefully.
