Reggie Bush Misses Practice, Says He Can Break Rushing Record

Reggie Bush is in the middle of one of his most productive seasons in the NFL. Bush recently became the 12th Miami Dolphin to rush for 1,000 yards in a season and the former New Orleans Saints running back says that despite a career that has been plagued by injuries, he’s capable of setting some rushing records.

Bush told ProFootballTalk:

“I feel like there’s so much more, This is just the tip of the iceberg… No disrespect to anyone, but I’ve spent a lot of time studying different players, including Chris Johnson. I’ve watched a ton of his runs, especially during his 2,000-yard season. And yeah, I feel like I’m capable of that, but I’m not worrying about that yet.

“My mental focus is entirely on this next game. If I wasn’t, my priorities would be backward, and I wouldn’t be setting myself up to accomplish any of this.”

In order to have a 2,000 yard season Bush will need to keep himself on the field. Bush hasn’t completed a 16-game season since his rookie year with the Saints. According to Bleacher Report, he missed four games in 2007, six in 2008, two in 2009, and eight in 2010.

Bush injured himself at the end of the game last Sunday and hasn’t practiced with the Dolphins all week. The Dolphins haven’t made any decisions yet, but it looks like Bush will be watching this week’s game from the sidelines.

Reggie Bush has run for 1,086 rushing yards and seven touchdowns this year with the Dolphins. According to Sportscity, Eric Dickerson currently has the record for most yards in a season. Dickerson ran for 2,105 yards in the 1984 season with the LA Rams.

Do you think Reggie Bush will be able to run for 2000 yards in a season?
