Happy 75th Birthday Mary Tyler Moore
Today Mary Tyler Moore turned 75 years old, but to many of us Americans we remember her as the forever young woman who had the ability to completely conquer the world! She had looks, brains and a personality from here to Alaska. She was also her own woman at a time when that meant a whole lot more than it does today.
Before Mary Tyler Moore played the Hostess with the Mostess on the “Dick Van Dyke Show” she played the goofy little in dozens of appliance commercials.
Even the Mary Tyler Moore show was shot during the times of a different America. Everyone knew her house, and also knew the real reason why Mary moved to an apartment later in the show (how when they came back to film in later seasons the owner hung a giant “Impeach Nixon” flag outside of it).
Dick Van Dyke will reunite with his former co-star and TV wife at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. There he will present her with the 48th Life Achievement Award.
The 86-year-old Van Dyke and Moore, 74, played Rob and Laura Petrie on The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-66) before she went on to star in The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
This month Betty White (of golden Girls fame) is having a party and The cast of The Mary Tyler Moore Show have announced that they will join the party. Mary Tyler Moore, Ed Asner, Gavin McLeod and Valerie Harper will relive the magic and be there to party.
