Atheist Richard Dawkins Calls Islam ‘Violent,’ In Response To Paris Terrorist Attack Of Charlie Hebdo
Atheist and evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins took to Twitter in the wake of France’s deadly terrorist attack in Paris Wednesday, proclaiming that Islam is a “violent” religion.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Charlie Hebdo is the same paper that was firebombed in 2011 in response to a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammad. Witnesses of Wednesday’s attack have reported hearing the gunmen shout “Allahu Akbar,” and a video captured the terrorists frequently shouting the same phrase.
Richard Dawkins has earned some headlines for his controversial tweets on Twitter. Last August, Dawkins tweeted it was “immoral” to choose to have a baby with down syndrome; to abort and “try again.”
Following news that Muslim terrorists killed 12 in an attack of Charlie Hebdo, a weekly newspaper in France, Dawkins sent a series of tweets about religion.
No, all religions are NOT equally violent. Some have never been violent, some gave it up centuries ago. One religion conspicuously didn’t.

Dawkins pointed message was that some religions had been violent in the past, but those violent ways had stopped “centuries ago,” while Islam has stuck out to have not. “They shouted ‘We have avenged the Prophet Muhammad,'” Dawkins wrote. “Some useful idiot will claim it had nothing to do with religion.”

Others have disregarded these terrorists as being Muslim. Instead, violent, militaristic groups such as ISIS are not Muslims at all. Vermont Democrat Howard Dean is one who holds this stance.
Howard Dean appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Wednesday with a message for anyone who dares call the Paris shooters that attacked satire magazine Charlie Hebdo “Muslim terrorists.” Dean added that it was unwise “to accord [the Paris gunmen] any religious respect.”
“I stopped calling these people Muslim terrorists,” Dean said. “They’re about as Muslim as I am.”
Dean added that ISIS (the so-called “Islamic State”) were not members of the religion either, but instead a “cult,” distinguishing “not an Islamic cult.”
Dawkins may feel more inclined to agree with Christopher Hitchens‘ belief about Islam.
Of COURSE most Muslims are peaceful. But if someone’s killed for what they drew or said or wrote, you KNOW the religion of the killers.

Christopher Hitchens believes that Islam was the “most depraved” of all religions, adding that it was the only religion that encouraged religious rule through Jihad, or Holy War.
What do you think of Richard Dawkins tweets? Is it right to group violent terrorists with Islamic religion?
