‘Elastic Heart’ Video: Shia LaBeouf Fights Maddie In Monkey Cage?

Actor Shia LaBeouf has been known for his “eccentric” behavior, just like Sia has become known for the artistic yet eccentric style of her music videos.

Even though it might seem somewhat awkward for Shia LaBeouf to be featured in a Sia music video, it also seems to make perfect sense at the same time.

If you have any doubts about that statement, all that you need to do is watch “Elastic Heart” — the newest music video from the “Chandelier” singer.

The setting of the “Elastic Heart” video is inside of a cage located within a large room.

It seems to be set up as a dramatic interpretation of some sort of struggle between Shia LaBeouf and Maddie Ziegler, the young dancer that made headlines last year as the solo star of Sia’s “Chandelier” video.

The only thing that viewers can hear when they watch the “Elastic Heart” video is the music and lyrics of the actual song.

Towards the end of the video, there is nothing left to hear but the sound of silence as Shia LaBeouf and Maddie bring their dramatic presentation to a close. Both Shia LaBeouf and Maddie exhibits physical traits that are similar to monkeys inside of a cage — dirty bodies, walking on all fours, climbing, crawling, screaming, etc.

At one point, Shia LaBeouf is even able to climb up the side of the cage to the very top before dropping down on top of his “opponent.”

In addition to the physical struggles that are put on display between the 28-year-old actor and the 12-year-old dancer in the “Elastic Heart” video, there also seems to be some sort of emotional struggle as well.

For instance, Maddie is able to escape the cage twice. The first time, it seems as if Shia LaBeouf wants to grab her like a predator reaches out for prey. However, when she escapes the second time, it seems as if he needs her and is distressed simply because he cannot escape as easily as she did — even though she then tries to break him free as well.

To say that the “Elastic Heart” video is unique would be an understatement. Chances are that once you start watching Shia LaBeouf and Maddie in their “dance,” you will not be able to look away until the screen goes dark.
