Avoiding ‘Trans Kid’ Label, Angelina Jolie Calls Daughter John: ‘She Wants To Be A Boy’ [Video]

When Amber Rose saw photos of Angelina Jolie’s and Brad Pitt’s daughter Shiloh looking boyish in a tux and short hair, she took to Instagram to reveal her positive views about what she thought was the family’s acceptance of a trans kid, reported E News.

Rose also made it clear that she knew about Shiloh’s request to be called John, with which the parents complied.

But Amber quickly found herself the center of a controversial storm. While some praised her post, others accused her of bullying the child and family.

However, Angelina has been candid about accepting her daughter’s desire to dress in boy’s attire.

“She likes to dress like a boy. She wants to be a boy. So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys’ everything. She thinks she’s one of the brothers.”

Brad also discussed Shiloh’s preference for the name John. However, he linked it to the desire to avoid growing up, comparing Shiloh to Peter Pan.

“She only wants to be called John. John or Peter. So it’s a Peter Pan thing. So we’ve got to call her John.”

Pitt even recalled conversations with his daughter, in which she declined to respond unless he called her by the masculine name.

‘Shi, do you want…’

‘John. I’m John.’

And then I’ll say, ‘John, would you like some orange juice?’

And she goes, ‘No!’ So, you know, it’s just that kind of stuff that’s cute to parents and it’s probably really obnoxious to other people.

However, neither Angelina nor Brad has used the “trans kid” label, or discussed the issue of parenting a transgender child. And doing so, says Catholic Deacon Ray Dever, isn’t easy.

He speaks from experience, after his own child revealed her transgender identity, reported the Huffington Post.

But despite the challenges, Dever emphasized that he focused on love and acceptance.

“When our daughter came out, my wife and I experienced the full range of thoughts and emotions that any parents do in that situation – shock at the news, a lack of understanding of gender issues, conflict with what the Church teaches about human sexuality, confusion and guilt about what we should do as parents, profound sadness at what felt like the loss of our son, fear and worry for what the future would hold for her. There were arguments, sleepless nights, and prayers – lots of prayers.”

However, says the Deacon, in the end he recognized that his child was still just that – his child.

“All the creativity, humor, empathy, and intelligence that make her an exceptional person are still there and are shining through stronger than ever,” he emphasized.

As for Brad Pitt, the actor feels that he’s learned from being a father, according to E News.

“You learn to value the basic beauty of family, of watching your children grow and evolve. It’s the most beautiful thing you can experience.”

Pitt admits that he’s protective, and feels that worrying about his children is a natural part of parenting.

“I worry about them all the time…I care about them more than I care about myself, which I think is the real definition of love. You see past yourself and become more generous and giving, and wanting only the best for your family.”

As the Inquisitr reported, both Angelina and Brad take pride in their family. When Jolie couldn’t attend her premiere due to chickenpox, Pitt cheerfully dressed the oldest children in matching black suits, including Shiloh in her tux, and took them in her place.
