The entire wrestling world is watching as Roman Reigns prepares for his rise to stardom at the culmination of WWE’s “season.” Think of the beginning of the season starting right after WrestleMania 30 . It ends at the next WrestleMania and then the next season begins. Roman Reigns is on the cusp of a WWE World Heavyweight championship victory at WrestleMania 31 .
It has been rumored for over a few months now that Reigns would be the one to dethrone Brock Lesnar at the top of the mountain at the “Showcase of the Immortals.” However, as of late, Reigns’ stock within the WWE is beginning to diminish. On last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw, the crowd reaction for the former-WWE Tag-Team champion didn’t live up to WWE officials’ expectations.
If the WWE wants to continue on with their plans of having Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31, they didn’t do a good job of hiding it. WrestlingInc.com is reporting that WWE Kids Magazine, which is still published in the U.K., is teasing a match between the two behemoths in the future.
As it is shown above in the image, Lesnar already faced Triple H three times. Lesnar fought the Big Show four times, with one being in his latest WWE run. John Cena will face his toughest test since Night of Champions as the two will dance for the last time in the squared circle.
Brock Lesnar’s schedule leading to WrestleMania is still up in the air, as he’s only scheduled for a few more appearances before his inevitable departure for mixed martial arts.
Brock Lesnar is currently not scheduled to appear on this week’s episode of RAW at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is currently scheduled to appear at three shows after this week, including the post Royal Rumble show in Hartford, Connecticut.
Last night offered a bit of a curveball to the WWE Universe’s thoughts on the next three months. Originally, John Cena was going to face Brock Lesnar in a one-on-one match for the WWE World Heavyweight championship at the Royal Rumble. The Authority added Seth Rollins to the match, which made it a Triple Threat bout.
Rollins still has the briefcase, so it looks like there won’t be a cash-in at the pay-per-view. What could the WWE have up their sleeve? Last night received a lot of flack from the WWE fans, in response to the mediocre Raw. The one thing it succeeded in was making the championship match at the Royal Rumble that much more interesting.
After all, it’s all about the element of surprise right? What would the reaction be if Paul Heyman screwed Lesnar at the pay-per-view and helped Rollins win it? Since the briefcase is still his, that can’t make sense. Rollins might be in the match just to have Cena lose. Whatever the WWE is doing, it is working and that match with Reigns and Lesnar could easily change too.
