iPad Air Plus Specifications And Features: Will Apple Launch Device This Year?
The iPad Air Plus is scheduled for release this year, according to the International Business Times, but it remains in rumors as Apple hasn’t yet confirmed the release or made any official statement.
The iPad Air Plus, which many called iPad Pro, will be the biggest iPad version ever released by Apple. According to a recent report from Japanese magazine Mac Fan, the new iPad Air will have larger measurements than the usual 12 inches x 8.7 inches x 0.28 inches or 305.31mm x 220.8mm x 7mm, and it will have a 12.2-inch display.
On the other hand, Bloomberg claims that the new iPad Air Plus will be 12.9-inches diagonally compared to current models that have 7.9-inch and 9.7-inch displays.
“The Cupertino, California-based company has been working with suppliers for at least a year to develop a new range of larger touch-screen devices, said the people,” the reporter said.
Trudy Muller, Apple spokeswoman, refused to answer any questions when a Bloomberg reporter tried to catch her reaction. The reporter also mentioned that Apple is trying to increase the screen size on the iPhones.
As for production, the new iPad Air Plus was set to be mass produced in December 2014, but it was delayed and mass production will probably start early this year, claims Wall Street Journal.
According to Mac Rumors, new iPad Air Plus will “closely resemble” to the iPads – Air 2 and Mini 3 – regarding its design. However, the new iPad Air Plus will be a little thicker, that the iPad Mini 3 and iPad Air 2 which is 6.1mm thin. The new tablet is also thicker that the iPhone 6 which measures 6.9mm.
Rumors say that the iPad Pro will get the triple-core A8X processor which was first seen in the new iPad Air 2. This processor is “up to 55 percent faster” than the A8 processor found in new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models. Regarding the operating system, new iPad Air Plus will have the latest iOS 8 and 2 GB of RAM memory.
The new tablet is likely to get a gyroscope, accelerometer, GPS, touch ID, barometer, compass functionality, 802.11ac Wi-Fi an LTE Advanced in its Cellular and motion coprocessor with several sensors.
Although there is no official statement from Apple, its pretty realistic to expect the new iPad Air Plus will be the greatest tablet ever produced. According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will probably face difficulties in reaching the mass production of the iPad Air Plus by second quarter. The iPad Air should be launched between April and June this year. Meanwhile, you can prepare your old iPad for selling on Gadget Salvation. I certainly will.
